Job Scope
The Lead Construction Engineer is responsible for providing construction support, ensuring that all project work is carried out according to the client's fabrication and installation specifications. They coordinate with the client to guarantee that proposed construction and work methods are clearly understood and fit for purpose, and support the Project Engineers in understanding the construction process throughout all phases of the life‑cycle of the project.
They ensure work is performed per plans and specifications by coordinating with the client to expedite review comments on documents and drawings, reviewing design packages early in the project course to eliminate rework and optimise construction.
They chair constructability reviews and act as the interface with the client for all fabrication and construction related queries.
Responsibilities- To be conversant with and fully comply with the HSSE plan.
- Promote and drive the involvement of Construction in areas of technical design, fabrication and installation workpack preparation and planning.
- Develop and maintain a familiarity and appreciation of capability and ongoing work load with client Construction support providers / contractors.
- Develop and maintain responsibility for all construction and completions activities.
- Effectively work within a multi‑discipline collaborative environment to deliver results within expectations.
- Promote cost reduction and productivity enhancing initiatives.
- Assess effectiveness of working practices and systems with a view of continuously improving.
- Chair and participate in constructability reviews.
- Build and maintain a professional, constructive relationship with client's procurement and construction groups.
- Ensure that constructability is inherent within the design by being involved at the early stage of work scope and workpack compilation / development.
- Involved in workpack preparation including testing requirements, specialist tools and equipment; also identify specialists / vendors to perform identified tasks.
- Ensure contents of workpacks meet scope requirements.
- Ensure logic of work is updated on the plan and supporting systems.
- Conduct offshore surveys with design team as required.
- Address fabrication and installation queries and revert with solutions in a timely manner.
- Liaise with project engineers to ensure priorities are maintained.
- Liaise with engineering disciplines to effect solutions to fabrication, construction and implementation queries.
- Liaise with vendors and sub‑contractors, as required.
- Ensure any shutdown requirements are clearly identified in workpack and advance notice given to client.
- Ensure fabrication details are clear and complete.
- Obtain feedback from fabrication contractor and offshore installation team to continuously improve workpacks.
- Ensure timely IFC construction comments received from client.
- Responsible for transport and installation plans.
- Ensure, as required, commissioning strategy is prepared and included in workpack deliverables.
- Demonstrated safety leadership and performance.
- Good interpersonal, team engagement and ability to influence skills.
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise work to achieve them.
