Application Engineer – Well Services
The Application Engineer – Well Services is responsible for the design, planning, application and support of Well Services Group. This role includes post‑drilling analysis within intermediate to complex wells projects on a country, region, and global basis. The engineer works closely with subsurface disciplines, well systems and regulatory bodies to develop the safest and most efficient plans to drill a well that meets all expectations.
Responsibilities- Support Health, Safety and Environment policies.
- Familiarize with and understand the Weatherford Quality Policy and comply with all requirements of the Quality Systems Manual.
- Follow Operating and Technical Procedures and Workplace Instructions.
- Manage all aspects of project preparation and proposals for common Well Services wells.
- Ensure Weatherford best practices are adhered to in all drilling proposals and programs.
- Provide engineering support to operations from the office.
- Coordinate Well Service projects in the field when required.
- Support and/or conduct HAZID, HAZOP, DWOP, and well planning meetings.
- Track lessons learned and apply them to subsequent operations.
- Prepare operating procedures according to operation type.
- Follow up in real time on all country Well Services jobs and optimize overall performance.
- Contact Weatherford representatives in operations and optimize the Well Services process as needed, making calculations and recommendations based on well monitoring.
- Maintain constant communication with customers during and after jobs, updating them with results.
- Manage single‑phase and multiphase, steady‑state and transient hydraulic simulators.
- Support operators with well balancing, surge swab, torque, drag, directional drilling, and casing running calculations.
- Support higher‑level Well Services Application and Project Engineers in coordinating projects.
- Perform Well Services jobs audits.
- Review and approve rig visits (onshore and offshore).
- Assume field engineer or other field‑related roles when requested by management, including operating the system.
- Play an active role with the Sales Business Development group, attending client meetings and presentations.
- Prepare and deliver technical presentations, engineering studies, and end‑of‑well reports.
- Stay updated on Weatherford products and services that could help operators optimize their drilling completion processes.
- Minimum four years of experience in rig‑less operations and thru‑tubing operations.
- Excellent knowledge and experience in Production Solutions and/or Artificial Lifting Systems.
- Slick line experience in an office environment.
- Experience with commercial proposals.
- Ability to manage multiple projects.
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
- Willingness to travel to remote land and offshore work locations, and possibly to other countries.
- Ability to travel internally in the region or globally if required for meetings, customer office assignments, or operations.
- Strong communication skills.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
- Strong time‑management skills.
- An accredited engineering degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Electronic, Industrial, or Petroleum Engineering (preferred).
