Lead and supervise a crew of mechanical technicians and pipe fitters on pipeline construction and maintenance projects ensuring adherence to safety protocols and project timelines.
- Interpret blueprints, P&IDs, and technical drawings to accurately guide the installation, assembly, and repair of pipeline systems and associated mechanical equipment.
- Manage the efficient allocation and utilization of tools, equipment, and materials, minimizing waste and ensuring operational readiness.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and enforce strict adherence to HSE policies and procedures, proactively identifying and mitigating potential hazards.
- Oversee the installation and alignment of pumps, valves, compressors, and other critical pipeline components, ensuring precise fit and function.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues and equipment malfunctions in the field, minimizing downtime and ensuring operational continuity.
- Perform quality control checks on completed work, verifying compliance with specifications, industry standards, and client requirements.
- Maintain accurate daily reports on crew activities, progress, material usage, and any incidents, providing clear documentation for project management.
- Coordinate with other trades, supervisors, and project engineers to ensure seamless integration of mechanical work with overall project objectives.
- Mentor and train junior team members, fostering skill development and promoting a culture of continuous improvement and safety.
- Possession of a relevant trade certification (e.g., Pipe fitting, Mechanical Fitter) or a diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in mechanical roles within the oil and gas or heavy industrial pipeline sector.
- Proven experience leading and supervising mechanical crews in demanding field environments.
- Strong understanding of pipeline construction techniques, welding procedures, and non‑destructive testing methods.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings, P&IDs, and technical specifications.
- Excellent knowledge of safety regulations and best practices pertinent to pipeline operations (e.g., API, ASME standards).
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical equipment failures effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Physical fitness and ability to work in challenging outdoor conditions, including heights and confined spaces.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of additional languages relevant to the project location is an asset.
