Quantity Surveyor

Responsibilities

• Take off all quantities from the received drawings and specifications, including items not mentioned in the BOQ or not shown clearly in the drawings.
• Check and verify BOQ items regarding quantity and specifications required, and report to the Sr Estimator / Estimation Manager accordingly.
• Write down and report all discrepancies found in the tender document, especially those between drawings, specifications and the BOQ.
• Prepare shop drawings as required, including layout for tenders.
• Check and verify project built‑up area.
• Study and verify received quotations from suppliers and subcontractors, and fill unit rates in cost comparison sheets.
• Prepare cost comparisons for different items, whether for supply of materials or services to be provided by subcontractors.
• Assist in writing and filling the BOQ to be submitted for the Consultant / Client.
• Assist in evaluating variations requested by the Client after the award of the main contract.

• Baccalaureate Degree (B.S. Civil Engineering) or a diploma in Quantity Surveying or Assistant Engineering (minimum 3 years).
• 1‑5 years of work experience in Quantity Surveying within an Estimation Department for a Construction or Contracting firm.
• Team‑leadership experience.
• Ability to communicate fluently in English.
• Computer literate & familiar with M.S. Package.
• Excellent interpersonal & communication skills.
• Familiarity with international codes such as ASME standards/British standards.
• Team player with a flexible approach.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
