Job Description
Contribute to the delivery of air quality management projects for the Environment Agency in Abu Dhabi, providing technical input, stakeholder engagement, training, and client liaison. Work closely with colleagues in the UK and Middle East offices to deliver high‑quality solutions on EAD projects, including characterising the impacts of policy on air pollution levels, developing and modelling policy scenarios, and using data to support decision‑making.
Contribute to business development in the Middle East by building relationships with key clients, identifying and developing new opportunities, writing proposals, and securing new wins.
Use air quality modelling tools, interpret technical data and prepare technical reports. Interact with air quality professionals—including policymakers at national and/or international levels—and write reports in English to a professional standard.
ResponsibilitiesTechnical air‑quality modelling at an advanced level, including business development and preparation of proposals to win new follow‑on contracts. May be involved in managing projects for time and cost, delivering training and stakeholder engagement events, building client relationships, and the technical delivery of projects. Responsible for the quality and delivery of work and will work alongside other consultants, including Knowledge Leaders and Business Area Managers.
QualificationsKey competencies and experience Essential
- Bachelor's (2.1 or above), Master's or PhD in a scientific subject.
- Experience working with the Environment Agency in Abu Dhabi.
- Understanding of international air quality management policies (e.g. WHO policy; funding agency policies; air quality policies, standards and regulations in the UAE).
- Knowledge of air quality modelling techniques at different scales.
- Experience supporting the development of air quality policy by using models.
- Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) (e.g. ArcGIS, QGIS).
- Experience using data processing software such as R.
- Experience using Eulerian models (e.g. CMAQ, WRF‑Chem).
- Ability to build relationships and develop new opportunities.
- Effective communication skills, both written and oral, and basic presentation skills.
- Excellent organisational and time‑management skills.
- Strong problem‑solving and creative thinking skills.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Flexibility, resilience and enthusiasm.
