Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor / Instrumentation Engineer
, the Instrument Technician is responsible for carrying out inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, repair, and overhaul of instrumentation and control systems across Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Onshore, and Offshore facilities. The role supports reliable plant operations by ensuring field instruments, control valves, shutdown valves, flare systems, and related equipment are maintained in line with operational, safety, and client requirements.
- Carry out preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance of instrumentation systems and field instruments.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, calibrate, repair, and test process instruments, control loops, transmitters, switches, gauges, and related devices.
- Perform maintenance and overhauling of control valves and shutdown valves.
- Support maintenance activities related to flare systems and associated instrumentation.
- Read and interpret instrument drawings, loop diagrams, datasheets, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Carry out installation, testing, commissioning, and functional checks of instrumentation equipment as required.
- Use maintenance systems such as MAXIMO for work orders, maintenance history, reporting, and job tracking.
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with HSE standards, permit-to-work requirements, ADNOC/client procedures, and applicable site regulations.
- Support shutdown, turnaround, and routine maintenance works at offshore locations.
- Report technical issues, equipment defects, material requirements, and unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
- Diploma in Instrumentation or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of Oil & Gas or Petrochemical experience, with approximately 10 years of overall relevant experience.
- Strong maintenance experience in instrumentation systems, preferably within ADNOC onshore or offshore locations.
- Good knowledge of flare systems.
- Hands‑on experience in overhauling control valves and shutdown valves.
- Good knowledge of MS Office; experience with computer applications such as MS Project and MAXIMO will be an added advantage.
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both written and spoken.
- Strong understanding of site safety procedures, permit-to-work systems, and maintenance practices in Oil & Gas environments.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary maintenance team.
- Willingness to work at offshore project or maintenance locations as required.
