Job Description Overview
We are seeking a qualified Transport Modeller (STEAM) with between 6 to 8 years’ experience to join our Transport Planning and Strategic Advisory Business Unit in the Middle East.
The candidate must be a degree-qualified professional with a minimum of 6 to 8 years of transport modelling, transport planning and traffic engineering experience in the Middle East.
Responsibilities- Contribute to a variety of transport planning studies including large‑scale transport master plan assessments, traffic impact studies, and multi‑disciplinary planning projects in public and private sectors.
- Independently conduct transport modelling in STEAM as per ITC Guidelines for large multi‑disciplinary projects.
- Apply understanding of transport planning, traffic engineering, and travel demand theory to support project objectives.
- Leverage project experience in the Middle East and familiarity with local transport planning standards and practices.
- Understand the role and importance of transport planning in development access and citywide mobility plans.
- Utilize traffic analysis to support traffic impact assessments.
- Lead the preparation of reports, including Modelling Reports, as per ITC requirements.
- Communicate effectively in English, both written and spoken.
- Learn and retain new skills quickly from a variety of sources.
- Work with limited supervision and demonstrate initiative.
- Exhibit experience or capability in project and financial management.
- Assist in growing the Atkins Transport Planning Business and sell Atkins services generally.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or equivalent is a must.
- Minimum 6 to 8 years of experience in traffic modelling and transport planning.
- Experience with Abu Dhabi ITC STEAM model and ITC Guidelines, STEAM Planning standards, and procedures.
- Experience with ITC STEAM transport modelling software and accepted STEAM Modeller credential.
- Knowledge of local authority guidelines and manuals in the UAE.
- Experience with traffic engineering software such as SYNCHRO, SIDRA, and HCS.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Desirable:
Master’s degree in transport planning or equivalent field. - Ability to work effectively within a multi‑disciplinary team.
