Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Head of Discipline Engineering to lead and manage the discipline engineering department, ensuring the successful execution of projects and alignment with company goals for a high‑profile client.
Responsibilities- Lead and manage the discipline engineering department, delivering large and complex projects for national and international energy companies.
- Drive health, safety, security, environment, quality (HSSEA) culture and performance within the discipline team.
- Ensure engineering integrity and compliance across all work scopes, maintain safety focus and eliminate technical incidents through robust controls and lessons learned.
- Support technical assurance activities, including audits, incident investigations, and verification of deliverables.
- Provide appropriate discipline resources to projects, deliver work in line with company procedures and customer requirements, and optimise resource utilisation against workload demand and budgets.
- Collaborate with other discipline and project managers to develop engineering execution plans and shared governance.
- Establish, maintain, and continuously improve discipline engineering systems, tools, and processes for cost‑effective execution.
- Identify and promote innovation opportunities and emerging technologies within the discipline.
- Support business development activities, review proposal manhours, and optimise workshare strategies across engineering centres.
- Set the vision and strategic direction for the Discipline Engineering Group under the Engineering Director.
- Lead line management for direct reports, including performance management, career development, and remuneration input.
- Ensure recruitment, development, and succession planning to meet current and future business needs.
- Maintain discipline competence assurance frameworks and identify skills gaps with appropriate training plans.
- Develop, maintain, and improve discipline processes, procedures, manuals, and intellectual property in line with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Support project delivery assurance through governance activities and continuous improvement via structured change management.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Minimum 25 years of experience in onshore and offshore mega projects with Capex over 2billionUSD.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a Head of Discipline role.
- Experience in ASSESS, Pre‑FEED, FEED, and Detailed Design stages of projects.
- Extensive experience in piping discipline engineering with over 250K man‑hours.
- Deep knowledge of ASME, API, MPP, ISO codes and Middle East clients’ specifications.
- Experience working with ADNOC, Qatar Energy, KNPC, KOC, BGC, BP and Shell.
- Strong knowledge of piping materials, stress analysis, and onshore/offshore pipeline engineering.
- Expert‑level understanding of discipline engineering tools, processes, and technologies.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to develop and lead high‑performing engineering teams.
- Strategic thinking and problem‑solving capability.
- Proficiency in people interviewing, selection, communication, performance management, and coaching.
- Ability to work effectively in multicultural and cross‑functional environments.
