Lead Contracts Engineer
We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Contracts Engineer to join our EPC project team within the Oil & Gas sector. In this role, you will take ownership of all contractual aspects across large-scale EPC projects—ensuring commercial protection, risk mitigation, and project success from tender through execution and close-out.
This is a strategic role requiring strong leadership, negotiation expertise, and deep understanding of complex contracts in the energy sector.
YOUR ROLEAs Lead Contracts Engineer you will,
- Lead the development, review, and negotiation of EPC contracts, subcontracts, and agreements
- Provide expert contractual guidance to project management, procurement, and engineering teams
- Identify, assess, and mitigate contract risks throughout the project lifecycle
- Manage contract administration, including claims, variations, and dispute resolution
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, company policies, and regulatory requirements
- Support tendering activities, including preparation of commercial terms and risk assessments
- Act as the focal point for all client and subcontractor contractual matters
- Drive best practices in contract strategy and commercial management
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Law, Quantity Surveying, or related discipline
- Must have 15+ years of experience in contract management within EPC oil & gas projects
- Proven experience leading contracts on major capital projects
- Strong knowledge of contract forms (e.g., FIDIC, NEC, bespoke EPC contracts)
- Demonstrated expertise in claims management and dispute resolution
Exceptional negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills - Ability to lead teams and work cross-functionally in a fast-paced project environment
