Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Materials & Procurement Engineer to join our head office in Abu Dhabi. As part of the Procurement Department, this role is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and procuring materials and subcontractors to support major construction projects. The position plays a critical role in ensuring material availability, maintaining compliance with project specifications, and supporting efficient site execution through accurate planning, vendor coordination, and documentation.

The Materials & Procurement Engineer reports to the Procurement Manager and works closely with site teams, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal technical functions.

Key Responsibilities Procurement Planning & Strategy
  • Prepare project-specific procurement plans aligned with construction schedules
  • Coordinate with site teams to ensure accurate material forecasts
  • Identify material requirements and ensure alignment with project specifications
Supplier Sourcing & Evaluation
  • Source qualified suppliers and subcontractors
  • Obtain and evaluate quotations, both technical and commercial
  • Develop comparison sheets and support contract award recommendations
  • Update and maintain the approved vendor database
Material Submittals & Approvals
  • Prepare and coordinate material submittals
  • Follow up on consultant comments and approval cycles
  • Ensure all materials comply with specifications, BOQs, drawings, and MIRs
Contracting & Negotiation
  • Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, and delivery conditions
  • Support contract issuance in coordination with internal stakeholders
Coordination & Communication
  • Work closely with site teams for material needs and consumption tracking
  • Resolve delivery, quality, or supplier performance issues
  • Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal departments
Monitoring & Performance Tracking
  • Track material delivery schedules and consumption
  • Monitor supplier and subcontractor performance
  • Support timely procurement to avoid site delays
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field
  • Civil Engineering preferred;
    Architecture acceptable
  • 8–12 years of experience in procurement and materials management within contracting companies
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes and ERP or procurement systems
  • Ability to prepare RFQs, comparison sheets, and contracts
  • Experience with project specifications, BOQs, and drawings
  • Strong technical and commercial evaluation skills
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under tight deadlines
Nice to Have
  • Experience in the UAE construction market
  • Experience with building and villa compound projects
  • Background with tier one construction contractors within the UAE
