Overview
The Data Specialist HPD amp ENC Database is responsible for the compilation, production, maintenance, and management of the Hydrographic Production Database (HPD) and Electronic Navigational Charts (ENCs) including associated paper charts in support of safe navigation and marine data governance. The role is accountable for the processing, validation, quality control, and delivery of hydrographic survey data in full compliance with IHO standards, recognized charting specifications, and organizational quality assurance requirements.

- Process, validate, and integrate hydrographic survey data into HPD and ENC products in accordance with IHO standards and approved organizational procedures.
- Update and maintain marine geospatial databases to ensure accuracy, consistency, and availability of navigational and operational data.
- Support the compilation, quality control, and submission of ENC updates to relevant authorities and stakeholders.
- Coordinate with hydrographic survey teams and marine operations to ensure timely incorporation of survey results into HPD and ENC datasets.
- Assist in the management of charting workflows, version control, and data dissemination to internal and external users.
- Ensure compliance with applicable IHO, IMO, and regional hydrographic regulations.
- Compile, edit, and maintain ENC cells using approved charting and GIS software.
- Perform data validation, quality assurance, and error resolution in accordance with ENC and HPD production standards.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Nautical Cartography, Hydrographic Surveying, GIS, Geography, Marine Surveying, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Marine GIS, ENC/HPD production and hydrographic data processing.
- Strong knowledge of ENC production standards (IHO S-57 / S-101) and HPD concepts, ENC creation, editing, and validation.
- Hands‑on experience with CARIS Bathy Database, Seven Cs ENC Composer.
- Good understanding of hydrographic survey data formats, S‑57/S‑101 Toolkits, ENC/HPD production and S‑100 compliance and integration workflows.
- Proficiency in GIS analysis, data validation, and spatial database management.
- High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary marine and technical teams.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and written in English, and to negotiate and resolve conflicts with stakeholders.
- Ability to work effectively in a team, respond to the needs of team members, and provide assistance when required.
- Good working knowledge of computers and proficiency with computer applications and communication equipment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and to work with third parties while retaining a professional demeanor in confrontational situations.
- Ability to carry out duties effectively and efficiently and according to defined objectives under minimal supervision.
- Ability to monitor the operational and functional integrity of communications equipment, computer and navigational aid.
- Knowledge of maritime domain and terminology.
