Structural Draftsman

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed structural drawings including plans, elevations, sections, and details, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project specifications and building codes.
• Create 3D models and visualizations of structural components using software like AutoCAD and Revit to aid in design reviews and stakeholder communication.
• Collaborate with structural engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to integrate structural designs with architectural and MEP systems.
• Review and interpret structural engineering designs, calculations, and specifications to translate them into clear and concise drawings.
• Lead and mentor junior draftsmen, providing guidance on drawing techniques, standards, and best practices.
• Perform quality control checks on drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with industry standards.
• Manage and maintain drawing revisions, ensuring that all project documentation is up-to-date and properly archived.
• Coordinate with external consultants and vendors to obtain necessary information and incorporate it into the drawings.
• Assist in the preparation of construction documents, including bills of materials and specifications.
• Stay current with the latest drafting software, building codes, and industry trends to improve design efficiency and quality.

• Possesses a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology or a related field, providing a strong foundation in structural principles.
• Holds relevant professional certifications, such as a Certified Drafter or similar, demonstrating a commitment to industry standards.
• Demonstrates 5+ years of experience in structural drafting, showcasing a proven track record of successful project delivery.
• Exhibits a deep understanding of the construction industry, including knowledge of building materials, methods, and codes.
• Expert in AutoCAD and Revit, and proficient in other relevant software, such as Tekla Structures or Navisworks, streamlining design workflows.
• Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills, essential for identifying and resolving design challenges.
• Exhibits excellent communication and collaboration skills, facilitating effective teamwork and project coordination.
• Possesses a keen eye for detail and accuracy, ensuring the creation of high-quality and error-free drawings.
