Job Description Overview
Your role includes the preparation of cost plans for all design stages and property-related projects, the preparation of bills of quantities for new builds and refurbishment works for various trade packages as per NRM and SMM7 standards, and the review of project drawings to establish RFIs. Additional responsibilities involve preparing area statements and quantity take‑offs in 2D and 3D, understanding and working knowledge of NRM1, NRM2, and SMM7, and maintaining a strong technical understanding of property projects across residential, commercial, institutional, refurbishment, data centre, and leisure centre categories.
Responsibilities- Preparation of cost plans with minimal design information and development of assumption and exclusion lists to support the estimates.
- Preparation of bills of quantities for new builds and refurbishment works for various trade packages as per NRM and SMM7 standards.
- Review of project drawings and establishment of RFIs.
- Preparation of area statements and quantity take‑offs in 2D and 3D.
- Understanding and working knowledge of NRM1, NRM2, and SMM7 standards.
- Understanding all RIBA stages and possessing good technical understanding of property projects.
- Understanding cost breakdown structures, rate analysis, and benchmarking.
- Preparation of cost reports.
- Client presentations and stakeholder communications.
- Tracking changes to design or construction work, modifying estimates, and preparation of cost change reports.
- Providing support to the procurement team.
- Exhibiting strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Supporting project meetings and collaborating with the team to meet target timelines for deliverables.
- 08–12 years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil Engineering (preferred).
- Experience in quantity surveying, estimation, costing, BOQs, rate analysis, etc.
- International exposure and working knowledge of standards/codes such as NRM, SMM
7. - Proficiency in quantity take‑off using AutoCAD and CostX.
- Client‑facing skills with excellent language, report‑writing, presentation, and communication skills.
- Minimum 8 years of hands‑on experience in estimation and quantity (preferably in pre/post contract projects).
- Charted membership of RICS (MRICS) is an added advantage.
