Job Purpose
To monitor, inspect and ensure compliance with Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE) standards across recycling operations in line with Veolia policies, local regulations and international standards.
Duties and Responsibilities- Conduct routine site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with QHSE policies, procedures and legal requirements.
- Monitor recycling operations to ensure safe work practices, proper waste handling, segregation and environmental protection.
- Identify hazards, unsafe acts and environmental risks; report findings and follow up on corrective actions.
- Support implementation and maintenance of ISO standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001) as applicable.
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings and QHSE awareness training for employees and contractors.
- Investigate incidents, near misses and non-conformances; prepare reports and recommend preventive actions.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and compliance with site safety rules.
- Monitor environmental controls such as spill prevention, waste storage, emissions and housekeeping.
- Verify compliance of equipment, vehicles and facilities with safety and environmental requirements.
- Maintain QHSE records, inspection checklists, permits and reports in an accurate and timely manner.
- Coordinate with operations teams, supervisors and contractors to improve QHSE performance.
- Support emergency preparedness drills and response activities.
- Assist during client, regulatory and internal audits.
- Report QHSE performance observations and KPIs to the QHSE Manager.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in HSE or equivalent from an accredited university. - Professional Certification:
Should hold NEBOSH certificate as a minimum. UAE Driving License for light vehicle is mandatory. - Specialized Knowledge:
Preferably in waste management industry. - Skills:
Communication skills, organizational skills, analytical skills, interpersonal skills, commercial awareness, management and leadership skills. - Computer
Skills:
Computer literate (Microsoft Word, Excel, e‑mail, internet, etc.). - Other characteristics:
Team player, honest, self‑confident, disciplined, highly organized and able to prioritize tasks. - Experience:
At least 5 years of relevant work experience, preferably with at least 2 years in the waste management industry.
Needs to work more independently and travel extensively. Standard hours of work. Sometimes, based on business requirements, the employee may be required to work for extended hours.
May be exposed to unpleasant sights and smells and may at times be exposed to dangerous and/or toxic substances and must take necessary precautions to protect eyes, nose and skin from irritation and infection.
Physical RequirementsExpected to dress professionally, as per the company standards. There may be a requirement to physically inspect waste on duty. Must be in good health, physically fit and with good vision.
