  • Job Title:

    System Engineer
    Role

    Summary:

We seek a System Engineer with strong knowledge of naval RF communications to design, integrate, operate and support shipboard and maritime communication systems. The ideal candidate combines systems‑engineering discipline with hands‑on RF expertise (HF/VHF/UHF/SATCOM), naval standards and practical experience with onboard installations, sea trials and spectrum management. You will work with cross‑functional teams, vendors and navy customers to deliver resilient, secure and mission capable communications for maritime platforms.

You will design, deploy, operate and maintain enterprise systems and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical skills across servers, virtualization and cloud with practical experience in automation, security and incident management.
  • Lead design, integration and acceptance testing of naval RF communications systems (HF, VHF, UHF, SATCOM, tactical data links).
  • Perform RF system engineering tasks: link budget analysis, frequency planning, antenna siting and pattern analysis, propagation modelling and coverage studies.
  • Ensure shipboard integration with power, EMC/EMI controls, grounding, cable routing and platform structural constraints.
  • Perform fault isolation and troubleshooting using RF test equipment (spectrum analyzer, vector network analyzer, signal generator, oscilloscopes) and debug complex system issues during shore tests and sea trials.
  • Support cybersecurity and communications security (COMSEC) measures for RF systems, including encryption integration and secure key management where required.
  • Prepare system architecture documents, cable plans, RF drawings, frequency plans, test & acceptance procedures, installation guides, and runbooks; maintain configuration control and technical documentation.
  • Coordinate with naval customers, system integrators, shipyards and equipment vendors; manage acceptance criteria and perform operational handovers.
  • Participate in on‑board commissioning, sea trials and post‑deployment support; be available for field deployments and offsite troubleshooting as required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, technology evaluation (e.g., digital modems, adaptive waveforms, ECCM) and migration planning.
