Senior Draughtsman

POWERTECHis a center of excellence for propulsion technologies, specializing in the design, engineering, and manufacturing of combustion engines, expendable turbojet engines, and turbofan engines for a wide range of aerospace, defence, and autonomous applications, including fixed- and rotary-wing UAVs and other advanced platforms.

The Senior Draughtsman:
Mechanical, is responsible for the development, control, and release of complex mechanical design documentation within a highly regulated engineering environment. The role requires advanced proficiency in Siemens NX, Solid Works, and CREO and configuration management using Windchill, ensuring full compliance with BS 8888 and applicable ISO standards.

• CAD Modelling & Technical Detailing
  Develop complex 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings.
  Produce detailed fabrication drawings for sheet metal, machined components, welded structures, and mechanical assemblies.
  Apply GD&T in accordance with BS 8888 and ISO Geometrical Product Specification (GPS) standards.
  Define datum structures, tolerance schemes, and inspection requirements.
  Prepare assembly drawings, and interface control documentation.
• Standards & Compliance
  Ensure all drawings comply with BS 8888 and applicable ISO standards (ISO 1101, ISO 2768, ISO 5459, etc.).
  Maintain consistency in title blocks, drawing notes, revision blocks, and symbology.
  Specify materials, finishes, coatings, and marking requirements in accordance with defence and ISO quality frameworks.
  Support internal and external audits for documentation compliance.
• Configuration & PLM Control
  Manage CAD models, assemblies, and WTPart structures within PLM.
  Maintain strict revision and lifecycle control in line with configuration management procedures.
  Process Engineering Change Requests (ECR) and Engineering Change Notices (ECN).
  Ensure digital continuity between CAD model, drawing, BOM, and released configuration.
• Leadership & Technical Oversight
  Mentor junior designers and draughtsmen.
  Develop and maintain CAD standards, templates, and modelling best practices.

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical discipline.
• 5–7 years’ experience in mechanical CAD design and detailing.
• Advanced proficiency in Siemens NX and Solid Works (part, assembly, sheet metal, drawing modules).
• Strong working knowledge of PDM/PLM.
• Comprehensive understanding of GD&T and ISO GPS standards.
• Complex assembly structuring and BOM management
• Sheet metal development and bend calculation methodologies
• Tolerance stack awareness
• Surface finish and coating specification
