Senior Instrument Field Engineer

Senior Field Instrumentation Engineer – Habshan, Abu Dhabi

Wood is recruiting an experienced Senior Field Instrumentation Engineer for a major project with ADNOC in our Oil, Gas & New Energies business. The role will be based on-site in Habshan, Abu Dhabi.

• Creating and implementing advanced instrumentation systems for industrial processes
• Enhancing system performance and efficiency through automation and control strategies
• Ensuring all instrumentation adheres to industry standards and regulatory requirements
• Diagnosing and resolving issues to maintain seamless operations
• Leading instrumentation projects, coordinating with teams, and managing budgets
• Researching and integrating new technologies to improve system capabilities

• Planning and executing Instrumentation engineering design for field instrumentation, DCS, SCADA, IC, Fire & Gas, SIS and telecommunications systems, including basic and detailed design.
• Provide SPI knowledge and experience in Index, I/O List, Data sheets and Loop drawing.
• Apply offshore design experience and RLE FPSO experience.
• Prepare data sheets, cause and effect diagrams, logic verifications, and input to interdepartmental interfaces.
• Ensure design conforms to industry standards and the quality management system.
• Coordinate with project and client.
• Assist in preparation of project proposals and pre‑qualification documents related to instrumentation design.
• Identify issues hindering project progress and report to Project Managers and Discipline Heads.
• Keep updated with new products, technology, and international engineering standards.
• Identify new methodologies for higher productivity.
• Prepare construction work packs.
• Support TBE, VDR and follow‑up engineering activities.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a minimum of 10 years of relevant offshore/onshore oil & gas experience, including at least 5 years in a mega project.
• Mandatory 5 years in a similar senior instrumentation role on mega Oil & Gas or Petrochemical projects.
• Comprehensive knowledge of international codes and standards.
• Excellent command of spoken and written English.
• Enthusiastic, conscientious, flexible with a can‑do attitude.
• Hands‑on experience with SPI.
• Working knowledge of electrical discipline relevant offshore/onshore oil and gas industry codes, specifications and practices.
• Previous experience in the Middle East an advantage.
