Overview
Senior Industrial Designer
Analog is looking for a designer who believes that the most precise technology in the world should also be the most beautiful. Not beautiful as decoration. Beautiful as expression of purpose, where every surface, radius, and material choice communicates exactly what the object is, what it does, and why it exists.
This is the role that defines how Physical Intelligence looks in the world.
What you’ll doDefine the Object
Lead industrial design for Analog’s physical hardware systems from first concept through production. You do not hand off to engineering. You work through the constraint with them, and your design intent survives to the end. You will develop the full visual and material language of each product: proportion, surfacing, CMF, and the logic of every physical interaction point.
Your portfolio shows objects that feel inevitable. That is the goal.
Own the DetailsDevelop production ready 3D models, engineering drawings, and CMF specifications with full command of tolerances, material behavior, and manufacturing process. You understand why a surface finish changes under different light conditions, why a parting line placement is a design decision, and why the gap between two panels communicates quality before the product is ever switched on.
DFM and DFA are not constraints on your vision. They are part of it.
Build ItManage physical prototypes from rough form studies to production fidelity models. You evaluate your work in your hands, not on a screen. Field environments, demanding use conditions, and serviceability requirements sharpen your decisions. They do not compromise them.
Work at the IntersectionCollaborate directly with mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers. Attend supplier builds. Review tooling. Drive corrections in the field. Apply ergonomic and human factors principles to hardware that is operated in demanding conditions, designing controls, connectors, indicators, and access points with operational clarity and no ambiguity.
What you’ll bring- 5 to 8 years of industrial design experience with a portfolio of physical products that have shipped and that are visually distinctive. Not functional. Distinctive.
- Degree in Industrial Design or equivalent demonstrated mastery of hardware design and manufacturing.
- Full proficiency in 3D CAD:
Solid Works, Rhino, Fusion 360, or equivalent. You model your own work. - Working knowledge of injection molding, sheet metal, CNC, casting, and surface finishing.
- Hands on prototyping ability: comfortable in a lab or shop, evaluating work critically against functional requirements.
- A strong point of view, and the ability to defend it.
- Experience designing hardware in robotics, wearables, or edge deployed devices.
- Familiarity with IP ratings, thermal management, and environmental sealing.
- Exposure to generative design or AI assisted design workflows.
Analog builds Physical Intelligence systems that operate where software alone cannot. The hardware is the product. It will be seen, handled, deployed, and judged by how it looks and feels before anyone reads a spec sheet.
If you design objects that make people stop, that is who we are looking for.
