Position: Engineer, Process (Safety - Integrity Team - Asab)

Job Purpose

Perform process engineering duties. Conduct studies at the site level and prepare the necessary reports. Troubleshoot plant operational problems, test, and participate in HAZOP, SIL and HAZID studies to ensure smooth running of the plant’s operations. Develop tools to monitor the plant’s process and apply computer simulation models and other advanced techniques to contribute to ensuring the business profitability.

Key Accountabilities
  • Study and analyze relevant reports, including laboratory test reports, standard log sheets, and other daily operating activity reports, to monitor process engineering activities’ status. Highlight abnormalities and suggest corrective actions.
  • Collect monthly production and operating data to evaluate units’ efficiencies in terms of chemicals and energy consumption. Prepare detailed reports to facilitate decision making.
  • Study required technical modifications to meet variations in production plans and/or varying feedstock.
  • Organize performance test runs for analysis of unit performance and establish optimum operating parameters to identify process bottlenecks for increasing throughput.
  • Participate in HAZOP, SIL, and HAZID studies for proposed modifications.
  • Develop tools for plant process monitoring and yield prediction by applying computer simulation models and advanced techniques to achieve optimum plant performance.
  • Participate in root cause analysis studies, incident investigations, and prepare necessary reports to enable corrective actions and mitigation plans.
  • Perform risk assessments for proposed modifications.
  • Provide technical services and assistance to Instrumentation, Maintenance, and Inspection as required.
  • Support plant’s Alarm Management System (AMS) rationalization meetings and master alarm database update projects.
  • Support implementation, monitoring, revamping, and effective utilization of Advanced Process Control (APC).
  • Support Control Loop Performance Monitoring (CLPM) system and effective performance and utilization of plant’s DCS controllers.
  • Support Real-Time Optimization (RTO) design, engineering, implementation, maintenance support, and effective utilization of high‑end software to ensure business profitability.
  • Automate, monitor, and report process safety KPIs.
  • Support ongoing projects from conceptualization to implementation phase.
  • Review and provide comments on process engineering documents, drawings and P&IDs to ensure correctness and adherence to standards.
  • Conduct feasibility and optimization studies at the site level to facilitate decision making with cost‑efficient approaches.
  • Monitor and analyze unit‑level energy performance and initiate improvement actions if required.
  • Review project deliverables for new and ongoing major projects. Review plant modifications and improvement studies as required.
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills Minimum Qualification
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Petroleum, Process Industrial Engineering, or an equivalent professional qualification.
Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills
  • 6 years of experience in process/design engineering in a large organization, preferably in the Oil and Gas industry.
  • Knowledge of gas extraction and processing in a plant unit operations.
  • Strong working knowledge in preparing specifications for processing equipment and proficiency in PFD/P&t.
  • Working knowledge of design engineering tools/software such as HYSIS, HTRI, PI, LIMS, and planning monitoring tools like CPIMS.
  • Understanding of process hazard analysis (HAZOP and HAZID).
  • Knowledge of APC, AMS, CLPM, RTO, and process control software.
  • Ability to perform process-engineering calculations and establish performance‑monitoring programs.
  • Technical ability in understanding relevant codes and standards.
  • Experience in writing analytical reports.
  • Knowledge of HSE procedures and practices.
  • Planning, organizing, coordinating, checking, examining, and recording skills.
