Engineer, -C Maintenance; -C Maintenance Section - Ruwais

Job Purpose

Plan and supervise maintenance activities for a wide range of instrument & control systems in the plant, coordinate with operations and other maintenance teams to ensure reliable functioning of systems, design, develop, and execute projects under site management of change (MOC), raise awareness on Integrated Control System (ICS), Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Emergency Shutdown Systems (ESD), Fire and Gas Systems (F&G), Analyzers (QMI), and Operational Technology (OT) security in coordination with OT security engineer from IT division.

Analyze and coordinate Automation Systems installations adopting higher level applications. Provide operational, technical, and engineering support in Optimization, Alarm Management, and OT Security.

• Provide maintenance support to ensure proper maintenance of Automation systems such as DCS, ESD, F&G, QMI to achieve 100% plant reliability.
• Support operations and maintenance teams for equipment testing, troubleshooting, routine equipment surveillance, and start‑up activities, liaising with Mechanical and Electrical teams to ensure seamless integration.
• Implement Management of Change (MOC) for Automation systems.
• Monitor manpower and service contracts for F&G, QMI, ESD and DCS to perform maintenance and service as expected.
• Execute firmware and software revisions and upgrades for Automation systems.
• Identify opportunities to improve performance of DCS, ESD, F&G, and QMI.
• Support the Automation section BMS requirements and participate in internal and external audits, implementing corrective actions to close non‑conformities.
• Provide technical support for critical maintenance activities to resolve problems with minimum downtime.
• Support monitoring of engineering design activities by consultants, FEED engineers, and EPC contractors for Industrial IT, Networking, and SCADA systems, reviewing and approving specifications and SLAs.
• Review bidder's lists and bid documents for Industrial IT equipment purchases such as Voice & Data networking, Transmission, CCTV, Public Address, Access Control, Radio System, and SCADA Systems.
• Monitor and control required materials, spares, consumables, and tools to ensure continuous availability.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis of equipment failures and non‑scheduled shutdowns, recommending and implementing remedial solutions.

• Prepare and track major maintenance, upgrades, and obsolescence issues to align with 5‑year business plans.
• Provide technical support for development, implementation, and commissioning of new projects in mechanical design and specifications.
• Participate in defining technical requirements and bid evaluation.
• Inspect materials to ensure adherence to specifications and quality.
• Prepare HIRA, raise temporary concession and permanent management of change (minor and major) per plant operation requirements.
• Review and ensure HSECES job plans are appropriate and assigned to PMs in SAP, maintaining data quality.
• Conduct internal PM audits to ensure effectiveness of procedures and job plan implementation.

• Plan, supervise, coordinate, and execute all activities to meet functional objectives.
• Troubleshoot DCS, ESD, F&G, QMI hardware and software anomalies and provide solutions to improve performance and reliability.
• Evaluate system architecture and analyze hardware integrity for safe and reliable operation.
• Develop and update technical specification documents for IC, ESD, F&G, QMI systems, and DCS graphic and alarm philosophy.
• Support new control system projects and ensure reliable design by specifying compatible hardware, software, and interfaces.
• Review analysis results related to IC, DCS, ESD, F&G, and QMI systems concerning reliability, expandability, and performance.
• Follow up with DCS vendors to resolve operational performance issues.
• Coordinate and facilitate use of real‑time systems and alarm management systems to monitor and improve performance.
• Develop scope, tendering, award, and renewal of IC, DCS, ESD, F&G, QMI systems and advanced applications related to maintenance support service agreements.
