Job Description & How to Apply Below

Black & Grey HR is seeking a Field Engineer – Subsea to join the client's offshore project delivery team on a permanent rotational basis. The role involves deployment offshore as the resident engineering representative during subsea inspection, repair, maintenance, and construction (IRM/EPC) operations, ensuring technical compliance, quality oversight, and real‑time engineering authority at the project site.

This is a permanent position with a 60‑day on / 30‑day off rotation, providing genuine recovery time between deployments. When not offshore, the engineer will be shore‑based at the client's Abu Dhabi facility supporting pre‑mobilisation engineering activities and project close‑out documentation.

Key Responsibilities 1. Offshore Engineering Delivery
  • Provide on‑site technical engineering support during subsea inspection, installation, and construction operations across IRM and EPC project scopes.
  • Act as the primary engineering authority on site during offshore operational phases, ensuring all activities comply with approved method statements, engineering specifications, and project quality plans.
  • Monitor construction and inspection activities in real time, identifying and resolving non‑conformances, technical queries, and field engineering instructions (FEIs).
  • Interface with ROV supervisors, diving supervisors, and vessel crews on technical requirements and operational problems, providing engineering decisions to maintain project delivery schedule.
  • Attend daily operations briefings, toolbox talks, and pre‑task risk assessments; contribute to Permit to Work (PTW) processes.
2. Documentation and Reporting
  • Maintain accurate field engineering daily logs covering all activities, decisions, and observations during offshore operations.
  • Review and implement approved method statements, lifting and rigging plans, and engineering work packs prior to and during offshore activities.
  • Prepare and submit non‑conformance reports (NCRs), technical deviation requests, and field change requests as required.
  • Contribute to project progress reporting for internal and client stakeholder audiences.
  • Support client company man and representative interface on technical queries, engineering approvals, and operational matters.
3. Pre‑Mobilisation and Close‑Out
  • Support pre‑mobilisation engineering reviews including vessel technical readiness assessments and offshore campaign preparation.
  • Assist with material take‑offs and procurement coordination for offshore campaign consumables and equipment.
  • Contribute to post‑project lessons‑learned documentation and engineering close‑out deliverables to support continuous improvement.
Qualifications Education
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Marine Engineering, or Subsea Engineering from a recognised institution. Equivalent vocational qualifications with demonstrable offshore experience will be considered.
Experience
  • Proven years of experience in subsea field engineering or offshore inspection and construction activities.
  • Practical, hands‑on knowledge of subsea systems is essential – candidates must have direct experience with subsea pipelines, subsea structures, risers, or umbilicals. This is non‑negotiable for this role.
  • Demonstrable experience with IRM and/or EPC offshore operations, including method statement review, non‑conformance management, and engineering work pack execution.
  • Experience interfacing with ROV operations, diving operations, or vessel‑based technical teams on offshore projects.
  • ADNOC project exposure or prior experience working on ADNOC‑approved offshore operations is a strong advantage.
Skills and Competencies
  • Strong technical writing skills for engineering documentation, NCRs, and daily reporting.
  • Ability to make sound engineering decisions independently in a fast‑paced offshore operational environment.
  • Clear and effective communication with multidisciplinary offshore teams including marine, operations, and diving personnel.
  • Understanding of offshore risk management, PTW processes, and SIMOPS procedures.
Certifications Required
  • BOSIET or HUET – must be valid and current. Candidates with an expired BOSIET/HUET will not be shortlisted.
  • ADNOC Facility Access Approval – held or a clearly documented ability to obtain.
  • GWO (Global Wind Organisation) certifications – advantageous.
  • CSWIP 3.4U or equivalent NDT/inspection certification – advantageous, particularly for candidates targeting IRM inspection scopes.
  • Offshore survival and first aid certifications – must be current.
Benefits
  • Permanent employment with a growing organization.
  • 60/30 offshore rotation schedule.
  • ADNOC project exposure and international project opportunities.
  • Exposure to advanced USV and offshore technology.
  • Long‑term career growth with a stable organization.
