Lead Project Engineer – Offshore Island Project
The K Abu Dhabi PMC Team is looking to fill the position of Lead Project Engineer for an Offshore Island Project. The role will be based in UAE (Abu Dhabi) initially and, following administrative completions, will relocate to Spain Office before returning to Abu Dhabi.
Job PurposeThe Lead Project Engineer is responsible for managing and coordinating all engineering activities during the Execute phase of offshore oil & gas projects. The role ensures project deliverables meet technical requirements, schedule, cost targets, and client standards while maintaining effective communication among multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities Project Coordination & Engineering Management- Coordinate and oversee multi‑disciplinary engineering activities during the execute phase.
- Ensure all engineering deliverables align with project scope, schedule, and quality requirements.
- Act as a focal point among engineering disciplines, project management, and contractors.
- Support the Project Manager in achieving overall project objectives.
- Monitor progress and quality of project deliverables across all disciplines (process, piping, structural, electrical, instrumentation, HSE).
- Ensure deliverables meet client standards, specifications, and international codes.
- Review key engineering documents, design philosophies, and technical reports.
- Track deliverable status and ensure timely submission.
- Review and coordinate EPC contractor engineering activities and deliverables.
- Ensure contractors comply with project requirements, timelines, and quality standards.
- Participate in technical bid evaluations and vendor assessments.
- Identify and resolve technical issues and interface challenges.
- Work closely with planning and project controls teams to track engineering progress.
- Support schedule development, progress reporting, and milestone tracking.
- Identify project risks, delays, and deviations, and propose mitigation measures.
- Assist in cost monitoring related to engineering scope.
- Manage interfaces between different engineering disciplines and project packages.
- Coordinate with client (ADNOC Offshore), contractors, and third‑party stakeholders.
- Participate in design reviews, workshops, and technical meetings.
- Ensure effective communication and issue resolution across all stakeholders.
- Identify project risks related to engineering scope and execution.
- Support HAZID, HAZOP, and constructability reviews.
- Manage engineering changes and assess their impact on scope, cost, and schedule.
- Ensure implementation of mitigation and corrective actions.
- Ensure engineering activities comply with HSE standards and project safety requirements.
- Promote safe design principles and ALARP approach.
- Ensure adherence to project quality procedures and QA/QC requirements.
- Prepare and review project reports, progress updates, and technical documentation.
- Maintain engineering registers, action trackers, and interface logs.
- Provide regular updates to the Project Manager and client representatives.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or equivalent)
- Master’s degree is an advantage.
- Minimum overall 18+ years of experience in the oil and gas sector.
- Minimum 5–7 years in offshore Execute / detailed engineering projects.
- Experience in process, storage, and export facilities relevant to offshore island activities.
- 12–15+ years of experience in oil & gas project engineering.
- Prior experience in PMC / ADNOC Offshore projects is highly preferred.
