RINA is currently recruiting for a Inspection Senior Engineer to join its office in Abu Dhabi within the Operations and Maintenance Engineering Division.
MissionThe Senior Corrosion Engineer is tasked with safeguarding the integrity and longevity of assets within refinery, oil & gas sites and power plants by implementing corrosion management strategies. The mission is to assess, prevent, and mitigate corrosion-related risks, thereby extending the life cycle of the plant site infrastructure and ensuring operational reliability and safety.
Key Accountabilities Corrosion Risk AssessmentConduct comprehensive corrosion risk assessments of plant site infrastructure—including equipment, pipelines, and facilities. Identify corrosion mechanisms, potential failure modes, and corrosion-prone areas through inspection data analysis and modeling. Evaluate the impact of corrosion on asset integrity, performance, and service life.
Corrosion Prevention and MitigationDevelop and implement corrosion control measures and mitigation strategies to prevent corrosion-related failures and degradation. Recommend appropriate corrosion-resistant materials, coatings, and inhibitors for use in construction, maintenance, and repair activities. Collaborate with design, engineering, and inspection teams to incorporate corrosion management requirements into asset design and inspection practices.
Monitoring and InspectionEstablish corrosion monitoring programs to track corrosion rates, degradation trends, and asset condition over time. Conduct regular inspections, integrity assessments, and non-destructive testing (NDT) to identify corrosion damage and deterioration. Utilize advanced inspection techniques and technologies to assess the integrity of critical assets and infrastructure.
Lifecycle AssessmentAssess the remaining useful life (RUL) of plant site infrastructure based on corrosion rates, degradation mechanisms, and asset condition. Conduct fitness-for-service (FFS) evaluations and risk-based inspections to determine the suitability of assets for continued operation. Develop asset management plans and lifecycle extension strategies to optimize asset performance and reliability.
Technical Analysis and ReportingAnalyze corrosion data, inspection findings, and failure analysis reports to identify root causes and trends. Prepare technical reports, corrosion assessments, and recommendations for management, engineering, and maintenance teams. Communicate corrosion-related risks, mitigation strategies, and lifecycle assessments to stakeholders and decision-makers.
