Lead Instrumentation & Control Engineer – Offshore Island Project
Location:
UAE (Abu Dhabi) – relocation to Spain Office and back to Abu Dhabi.
- Lead instrumentation and control engineering activities for offshore platforms, process facilities, pipelines, wellhead towers, and utility systems.
- Manage a team of instrumentation, control systems, and telecom engineers/designers.
- Ensure timely delivery of engineering deliverables within budget and schedule.
- Provide technical guidance and solutions for complex instrumentation and control issues.
- Review and approve instrument data sheets, specifications, hook‑up drawings, loop diagrams, cable schedules, wiring diagrams, instrument location layouts, and MTOs.
- Ensure proper selection and sizing of field instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow, level, control valves, safety relief monitoring instruments, analyzers, gas detection systems).
- Lead engineering activities related to distributed control systems (DCS), emergency shutdown systems (ESD), fire & gas systems (F&G), SCADA systems, PLC systems, and integrated control and safety systems (ICSS).
- Develop control philosophies and functional design specifications.
- Review cause & effect diagrams and logic narratives.
- Support system architecture development and cybersecurity compliance.
- Ensure compliance with IEC 61508 and IEC 61511 and participate in HAZOP studies, SIL assessments, LOPA workshops, and safety reviews.
- Coordinate with telecom discipline for integration of PA/GA, CCTV, access control, fiber optic, marine communication, and radio communication systems.
- Prepare and review material requisitions, technical bid evaluations, vendor packages, and documentation; conduct technical clarification meetings with suppliers and contractors.
- Provide technical support during fabrication, installation, and construction; review testing and commissioning procedures.
- Witness FAT, SAT, and integrated system tests; support pre‑commissioning, commissioning, start‑up, and handover activities.
- Ensure compliance with ADNOC, IEC, ISA, API, ISO, NFPA standards and participate in design reviews, audits, and project assurance activities.
- Promote HSE requirements and engineering best practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- Master’s degree in control systems, automation, or instrumentation engineering preferred.
- Professional Engineering certification is advantageous.
- Minimum 18–20 years of experience in instrumentation & control engineering within the oil & gas industry.
- Minimum 8–10 years in a Lead I&C engineering role.
- Extensive experience in FEED, detailed engineering, EPC, brownfield, and greenfield projects.
- Strong offshore facility experience including platforms, wellhead towers, subsea interface systems, and central processing facilities.
