Sr Engineer, Structural (Civils)
Location:
Abu Dhabi, Onshore site (PMC project). The role provides operational technical support regarding structural engineering for day‑to‑day issues in UZ facilities, ensuring plant operations can proceed safely while maintaining HSE and integrity.
- Provide day‑to‑day technical support to site operations for technical queries affecting plant operations.
- Analyse operational problems, identify troubleshooting requirements, and conduct production performance and field tests within design limits.
- Support asset‑managed maintenance activities including refurbishment and replacement.
- Follow up progress of studies/projects sent to the Central Engineering Division (CED).
- Participate in engineering reviews and workshops related to studies or projects.
- Lead and finalise structural adequacy concerns due to additional facilities within design limits.
- Provide technical support for interface related to shared facilities such as utilities for new projects.
- Conduct incident investigations, audits and surveys, follow up on recommendations and implementation.
- Review and approve documents for purchase of equipment/PR items that do not require an engineering package.
- Provide input and participate in workshops to review asset replacement and short‑term/long‑term facility development plans.
- Support minor works (site schemes) during implementation and coordinate monitoring and updating of plans.
- Provide inputs for HAZID, QRA, TRA, SBRA, BRA and other safety studies involving minor works.
- Manage plant modification requests (PMR) and engineering work requests (EWR) at HQ, including screening, prioritising, tracking, review, and interface with CED.
- Review and approve temporary PMRs in coordination with CED.
- Develop business cases and statements of requirement for new requirements based on optimisation opportunities or audit actions.
- Collaborate with PSD for cost estimation of facility modifications, enhancements, and structural discipline.
- Develop engineering standards and procedures for the structural discipline in partnership with CED.
- Supervise, plan, and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to achieve functional objectives.
- Train and develop staff on relevant skills to increase proficiency and deliver section objectives.
- Provide input for preparation of the section/department budgets and assist with their implementation.
- Implement approved section/department policies, processes, systems, and procedures to support work programmes.
- Contribute to the achievement of approved performance objectives in line with the company framework.
- Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve quality and efficiency of operational processes.
- Identify process improvements against best practices to enhance efficiency in line with ISO standards.
- Comply with HSE policies, procedures, and sustainability guidelines in accordance with international standards and ADNOC Code of Practices.
- Provide inputs to prepare section MIS and progress reports for company management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 15 years of experience, including at least 5 years in the Oil & Gas field.
- Experience in plant design and ability to produce reports based on field trials, troubleshooting, and business case preparation.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interface with site operations and other stakeholders.
- Proficiency in structural analysis, design calculations, and engineering judgment in line with ADNOC standards.
- Following ADNOC standard competencies (e.g., teamwork, communication, problem‑solving).
Physical effort: 80% sitting, 20% walking/standing. Work environment: 90% A/C indoor, 10% outdoor. Role includes on‑site visits to liaise with operational teams.
