Senior Technician - Instrumentation

Responsibilities

Attends to Power and Desalination plant field instrumentation breakdowns and planned maintenance work with minimum direction and supervision. Technically assesses the requirement of the allocated jobs and selects the necessary tools and equipment to complete such work. Using the computerized maintenance system, orders the spare parts from the warehouse and maintains records of all maintenance work completed. Ensures that all maintenance work is carried out in accordance with the safety procedures and plant operational requirements.

Reports repeated breakdowns and assists in RCFA to identify an optimum solution to resolve the problem. Provides on-the-job training to new craftsmen to equip them with the necessary skills to carry out maintenance repair work as planned. Works under time and technical pressure, knowing that any mistake or error can substantially cost the power station via delay, equipment damage, or personnel injury.

May be assigned to shift duty and can be called out at any time to attend breakdown work for the shift operation manager. Must keep abreast of new technologies and control concepts while working in very hot, dirty environments and high-level platforms.

• Higher secondary or diploma.
• Minimum Experience:
  
  must be familiar with all maintenance tools and possess good knowledge of Plant Safety.
• Prior experience working in a power or desalination plant and exposure to maintenance and calibration of the following field instrumentation:
• • Pressure, temperature, level, & flow measuring devices
  • Pneumatic & hydraulic valve actuation systems
  • CO2 Fire Protection systems
  • Infrared Gas Detection systems
• Skills:
• • Read and understand engineering drawings and manuals.
  • Knowledge/experience in the field of electrical, electronics, computer, hydraulic, and pneumatic devices.
