Job Overview
The Industrial Traffic Safety senior specialist is responsible for the independent design, auditing and continuous improvement of all vehicular and pedestrian traffic systems covering all internal road networks and traffic interfaces across EGA operations in Abu Dhabi, Al Taweelah, Dubai, Jebel Ali. The role eliminates or reduces risks from vehicle-vehicle and vehicle-pedestrian interactions, applying traffic impact principles to ensure facility expansions, layout changes and daily logistics flows maximize operational efficiency while maintaining worker safety and compliance with EHS regulations.
Establish and govern a standardized industrial traffic safety framework across all EGA sites, ensuring horizontal deployment of controls, designs, and lessons learned.
Key Responsibilities- Plant Traffic Flow Layout Design and optimization of indoor/outdoor traffic routing, separating heavy machinery, MHE and pedestrian walkways.
- Internal Routing Mapping.
- Conduct Internal Traffic Impact Studies ahead of plant expansions and re-layouts to predict and eliminate bottleneck hazards and conflict points.
- Risk Assessment and Conflict Analysis: map blind spots, high-traffic intersections, loading dock zones, and analyze near-miss data.
- Infrastructure and Technology Implementation: mandate installation of physical controls such as bollards, impact-resistant barriers, floor striping, convex mirrors, digital signage; evaluate advanced safety tech like proximity sensors, pedestrian-detection cameras, speed-limit zones, smart interlocking gates.
- Budgeting and Financial Management: develop and manage OPEX budgets for traffic safety maintenance, conduct ROI forecasting for safety investments.
- CAPEX Project Management: author and justify capital expenditure proposals for large-scale traffic overhauls; oversee project execution and contractor management from design to commissioning.
- External Liaison: serve as SPOC for Traffic Impact Study consultants, coordinate plant data provision, and engage with municipal authorities for permits and right-of-way approvals.
- Audits and Compliance Training: conduct formal traffic safety audits, author SOPs on traffic rules, collaborate with HR to embed training.
- Authority and Decision Making: approve or reject layout designs, determine required infrastructure, select consultants and maintain safety oversight.
- Stop-work authority for unsafe traffic layouts within scope of responsibilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science, or High School/Diploma (equivalent).
- 5–8 years of experience in traffic management in the UAE, with solid grasp of UAE traffic laws and local transport regulations.
- Technical skills: mastery of JSA, FMEA, hazard identification frameworks for traffic environments.
- Regulatory knowledge: safety management systems, auditing system design/implementation, international health & safety standards, and legal aspects of traffic safety.
- Root-cause analysis mindset for diagnosing systemic engineering flaws.
- Excellent interpersonal, customer-focused skills; time management and priority setting abilities.
