The Lead Process Engineer is responsible for leading process engineering activities for offshore oil and gas production facilities, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient design and operation of process systems throughout the project lifecycle. The role provides technical leadership during Concept, FEED, Detailed Engineering, EPC, commissioning, start-up, and operational support phases while ensuring compliance with ADNOC standards, international codes, HSE requirements, and project objectives.
Key Responsibilities Process Engineering Leadership- Lead process engineering activities for offshore oil and gas facilities, including platforms, wellhead towers, central processing facilities, and subsea developments.
- Develop and review process design deliverables including Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Cause & Effect Diagrams, and Process Design Basis documents.
- Ensure process designs meet production, safety, operability, maintainability, and environmental requirements.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to process engineers and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Perform and review process simulations, heat and material balance calculations, hydraulic studies, and equipment sizing.
- Design and optimize systems including:
- Oil, gas, and water separation
- Crude oil stabilization
- Gas dehydration and compression
- Produced water treatment
- Utility systems
- Flare and relief systems
- Chemical injection systems
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, debottlenecking, and production enhancement.
- Support Concept Selection, FEED, Detailed Engineering, EPC, and Brownfield modification projects.
- Review engineering contractor deliverables for technical compliance and quality.
- Participate in technical bid evaluations and vendor document reviews.
- Coordinate with Mechanical, Piping, Instrumentation, Electrical, Civil, Structural, and Operations teams.
- Support procurement, fabrication, installation, commissioning, and start-up activities.
- Lead and participate in HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, and Risk Assessment studies.
- Ensure compliance with ADNOC HSE requirements and international process safety standards.
- Review relief valve sizing calculations and flare system studies.
- Identify and mitigate process safety risks throughout project execution.
- Provide technical support to offshore operations teams.
- Troubleshoot process-related issues affecting production and facility performance.
- Support plant modifications, management of change (MOC), and facility optimization initiatives.
- Conduct root cause analysis for process upsets and operational incidents.
- Interface with ADNOC Offshore operations, consultants, EPC contractors, licensors, and vendors.
- Prepare technical presentations and reports for management review.
- Mentor and develop junior process engineers.
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or Process Engineering.
- Master's Degree is an advantage.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng), Professional Engineer (PE), or equivalent professional certification preferred.
- Minimum 15 years of process engineering experience in the oil and gas industry.
- At least 5 years in a Lead Process Engineer or Senior Process Engineer role.
- Extensive experience in offshore oil and gas facilities.
- Strong exposure to FEED, EPC, brownfield modifications, and offshore production projects.
- ADNOC, Middle East, or major IOC experience preferred.
