We are seeking a highly motivated Navigation Technician to support the maintenance, operation, and continuous improvement of Navigation Engineering and Production test facilities. This hands-on role combines laboratory support, calibration, testing, assembly, and engineering assistance to ensure development and production activities are delivered efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
The successful candidate will support engineering development programs, maintain critical test equipment and assets, perform calibration and troubleshooting activities, and contribute to the assembly and testing of navigation and IMU products.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain and manage Engineering Stores, inventory, consumables, and laboratory assets.
- Track and administer engineering equipment, fixtures, test equipment, cables, and development hardware.
- Support day-to-day Engineering Lab management activities while maintaining high 5S standards.
- Conduct and maintain calibration records for engineering test equipment.
- Support equipment commissioning, test equipment selection, procurement, and deployment activities.
- Perform electronic assembly, testing, and integration activities for prototype and development hardware.
- Complete mechanical assembly activities using standard engineering tools and procedures.
- Perform cable manufacture, cable repairs, and support cable and harness development activities.
- Conduct electronic rework and repair activities on PCBAs and cable assemblies.
- Support fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and debugging of development hardware and test equipment.
- Execute engineering testing activities and capture accurate test data and results.
- Assist in analysis, reporting, and documentation of engineering and test activities.
- Develop and maintain build records, test documentation, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Monitor equipment performance, downtime, calibration schedules, and maintenance activities.
- Support Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) initiatives, risk assessments, and corrective actions.
Minimum:
- Foundation Degree, Higher National Diploma (HND), Advanced Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 4/5, or equivalent qualification in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
Minimum:
- 2 years' experience providing calibration and maintenance support within a production, engineering, laboratory, or manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with Motion Simulators or other high-precision test equipment.
- Experience maintaining equipment records, calibration schedules, and technical documentation.
- Experience performing electronic and/or mechanical assembly activities.
- Experience supporting troubleshooting and fault diagnosis activities.
