Job Title:Lead Structural Engineer
K is growing its Project Management Consultancy (PMC) team for an exciting, high profile offshore development in Abu Dhabi. The ADNOC PMC project role would be based initially in Client or Contractors Office in Abu Dhabi.
Job PurposeThe Lead Structural Engineer is responsible for leading structural engineering activities for offshore oil and gas facilities, ensuring the safe, reliable, and cost-effective design, assessment, modification, and execution of offshore structures. The role provides technical leadership throughout Concept, FEED, Detailed Engineering, EPC, Installation, and Brownfield project phases while ensuring compliance with ADNOC standards, international codes, HSE requirements, and project objectives.
Key Responsibilities Structural Engineering Leadership- Lead structural engineering design and analysis for offshore platforms, jackets, topsides, bridges, flare structures, monopods, subsea support structures, and associated facilities.
- Manage and supervise structural engineering teams and coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams.
- Review and approve structural engineering deliverables and ensure compliance with ADNOC and international standards.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to structural engineers and designers.
- Perform and review structural analysis and design calculations.
- Perform and review in-place analyses of offshore structures.
- Perform and review fatigue and fracture mechanics assessments.
- Perform and review seismic and environmental load assessments.
- Perform and review transportation and installation analyses.
- Perform and review load-out and lifting studies.
- Perform and review structural integrity assessments.
- Review structural drawings, steel detailing, and fabrication packages.
- Ensure structures can withstand operational, environmental, transportation, and installation loads.
- Conduct structural assessments for aging offshore assets and brownfield modifications.
- Evaluate structural integrity, life extension, and fitness-for-service requirements.
- Review inspection findings and recommend repair, strengthening, or replacement solutions.
- Support asset integrity management programs and risk-based inspection initiatives.
- Participate in Concept, FEED, Detailed Engineering, EPC, and offshore construction projects.
- Review contractor and consultant engineering deliverables.
- Support procurement activities including technical bid evaluations and supplier assessments.
- Provide technical support during fabrication, load-out, transportation, offshore installation, and commissioning.
- Ensure compliance with ADNOC HSE standards and offshore safety requirements.
- Participate in HAZID, HAZOP, Constructability Reviews, SIMOPS, and Risk Assessments.
- Identify technical risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Promote safety, quality, and engineering excellence throughout project execution.
- Interface with ADNOC Offshore operations teams, EPC contractors, consultants, classification societies, and third-party agencies.
- Present technical solutions and engineering recommendations to management and project stakeholders.
- Support project reviews, audits, and technical assurance activities.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
- Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering is preferred.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng), Professional Engineer (PE), or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
- Minimum 15 years of structural engineering experience in the oil and gas industry.
- At least 5 years in a Lead Structural Engineer or Senior Structural Engineer role.
- Extensive experience in offshore platform design and analysis.
- Strong experience in FEED, EPC, offshore construction, and brownfield projects.
- ADNOC Offshore or Middle East offshore project experience preferred.
