At Venture One, we build ventures and commercialize breakthrough technologies emerging from advanced research. Our focus spans Aerospace and Space, Security and Defense, Sustainability, Environment and Energy, and Transportation, with technologies across Cryptography, Secure Systems, Directed Energy, Advanced Materials, Autonomous Systems, and more.
AboutThe Role
We are seeking a Robotics Engineer to design, program, and deploy advanced robotic systems for fully autonomous (lights-out) assembly and testing lines in aerospace and defense manufacturing. This role focuses on integrating robotics, IIoT, and Digital Twin technologies and fleet-based intralogistics (AMRs/AGVs/RGVs) to deliver high-precision, zero-defect production systems with maximum uptime and efficiency. You will lead robotic system architecture, intelligent automation, and performance optimization across the manufacturing lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities- Design and implement robotic automation systems for lights-out assembly and testing, including multi-robot cells and flexible automation architectures.
- Develop and optimize robot/cobot programs (trajectory planning, cycle time reduction, collision avoidance, and offline programming).
- Integrate robotic systems with assembly processes, including:
- Precision tightening systems (torque/angle-controlled tools, feedback loops)
- Automated dispensing systems (adhesives, sealants, potting with vision guidance)
- Pressing/forming operations (force-controlled robotic applications)
- Robotic welding systems (laser, spot, arc with process monitoring)
- Robotic Palletizing and Depalletizing
- Robotic CNC loading and Unloading
- Robotics ST & Painting part loading on Racks and Jigs.
- Architect and deploy autonomous intralogistics systems, including:
- AMRs (Autonomous Mobile Robots) for flexible material transport
- AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles) for structured, repeatable flows
- RGVs (Rail Guided Vehicles) for high-speed, fixed-path transfer
- Develop and manage fleet control systems, including traffic management, task scheduling, path optimization, and congestion avoidance.
- Integrate AMR/AGV/RGV fleets with production lines, robotic cells, ASRS, and warehouse systems.
- Architect and implement multi-layer Poka-Yoke systems to ensure zero-defect production:
Sensor-based validation (presence/absence, orientation, alignment) & Vision-based verification (component type, position, defects) - Implement machine vision systems for part identification, alignment, inspection, and guidance, expert in 2D, 3D vision and Line scanning
- Enable IIoT connectivity for robots and equipment, including real-time data acquisition, monitoring, and analytics. Enable seamless communication between fleets and systems via IIoT platforms, MES, and WMS.
- Develop and maintain Digital Twin / Process Twin models for robotic cells to simulate reachability, cycle time, and line performance.
- Lead robotic cell commissioning, including FAT, SAT, and production ramp-up.
- Optimize cycle time, throughput, and line balancing through advanced motion strategies and system tuning.
- Establish traceability systems capturing robot process parameters (torque, force, weld data, dispense volume, etc.).
- Monitor and improve OEE, focusing on robot uptime, fault recovery, and performance optimization.
- Develop auto-recovery and fail-safe strategies for lights-out operation (error handling, safe restart, zero referencing).
- Support maintenance strategies including predictive diagnostics, condition monitoring, and spare part planning.
- Ensure ergonomic and safety compliance in collaborative or hybrid robotic work environments.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and continuous improvement initiatives using data-driven insights.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
- 10+ years of experience in robotics automation, preferably in aerospace, defense, or high-precision industries.
- Strong hands‑on experience with industrial robots (e.g., KUKA, ABB, FANUC) and robotic programming.
- Proven experience integrating AMRs,…
