We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Lead Estimation Engineer to lead the estimation function for large-scale EPC projects across the Oil & Gas, Civil, Marine, Power, and Plant sectors. This is a strategic leadership position responsible for delivering accurate, competitive, and commercially viable project estimates while managing a team of estimators and collaborating extensively with project stakeholders.

YOUR ROLE

As Lead Estimation Engineer you will :

Lead the Estimation Process
  • Lead the preparation of conceptual, preliminary, and detailed cost estimates for major EPC projects.
  • Review project specifications, drawings, BOQs, technical documentation, and scope requirements to develop comprehensive estimates.
  • Ensure accurate evaluation of direct and indirect costs, labor, equipment, subcontracting, materials, risks, and contingencies.
  • Conduct value engineering and cost optimization exercises while maintaining quality and compliance standards.
  • Develop competitive bid strategies and support tender submissions.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Estimation Engineers.
  • Allocate resources effectively and manage estimation workloads to meet project deadlines.
  • Conduct performance reviews, coaching sessions, and training initiatives to enhance team capabilities.
  • Promote continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the department.
Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Work closely with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Project Management, and Commercial teams during the estimating process.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to obtain quotations and market pricing.
  • Validate vendor pricing and ensure competitiveness of procurement inputs.
  • Support management and business development teams during bid reviews and client engagements.
  • Conduct detailed cost analysis and risk assessments.
  • Incorporate appropriate risk allowances and contingencies into project estimates.
  • Leverage historical project data, lessons learned, and benchmarking tools to improve estimate accuracy.
  • Monitor market movements and assess their impact on project costs.
Quality Assurance & Reporting
  • Review and approve estimates prepared by team members.
  • Ensure estimation methodologies, assumptions, calculations, and supporting documents are properly documented.
  • Maintain and update estimation databases, historical cost records, and MIS systems.
  • Provide regular progress reports and strategic recommendations to senior management.
  • Participate in client meetings, technical clarifications, and bid negotiations.
  • Support the preparation of commercial proposals, presentations, and tender submissions.
  • Provide expert guidance to ensure client requirements are achieved within budget parameters.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR Education / Certifications / Licenses
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or related discipline), Quantity Surveying, or Construction Management.
  • Professional certifications such as AACE, RICS
    , or equivalent are highly preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum 15+ years of experience in project estimation for large-scale EPC projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in Oil & Gas EPC projects would be advantageous
  • Proven experience leading and managing estimation teams.
Skills and Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of project cost estimating methodologies and best practices.
  • Expertise in EPC tendering and bidding processes.
  • Proficiency in estimation software and
  • Strong understanding of cost control, budgeting, forecasting, and risk management.
