Cost Control Engineer
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Cost Control Engineer who will be responsible for monitoring project costs, preparing detailed financial reports, and ensuring effective budget control across all project phases. This role involves tracking expenditures, analyzing variances, and supporting accurate forecasting to maintain financial performance.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare and maintain comprehensive cost reports for Civil project components.
- Monitor project spending against the approved budget, covering commitments, actual costs, and forecasts.
- Analyze cost trends, conduct variance assessments, and flag potential overruns early.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and contribute to value engineering efforts.
- Support the development of project budgets during both tendering and execution stages.
- Regularly update cost forecasts based on project progress, market conditions, and risk factors.
- Contribute to cash flow projections and financial planning activities.
- Deliver detailed cost breakdowns aligned with WBS, cost codes, and project phases (engineering, procurement, construction).
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting in line with company procedures.
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, planning, and construction teams to gather cost data.
- Participate in project review meetings and provide cost analysis insights.
- Assess the financial impact of design changes, scope variations, and contractual claims.
- Assist in preparing cost documentation for change orders and variation requests.
- Maintain and update a change register for mechanical scope adjustments.
- Support the identification of cost-related risks and opportunities.
- Maintain risk registers with quantified financial impacts.
- Recommend contingency planning and management approaches.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in cost control within general contracting, construction, or transport/infrastructure projects.
- Experience in handling variations, claims, and change management processes.
- Familiarity with risk management practices and cost impact assessments.
