The Safety Engineer will serve as a qualified technical expert responsible for evaluating workplace and operational risks, reviewing structural and operational parameters, and ensuring that critical activities are executed only after appropriate safety assessment and technical authorization.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct detailed risk assessments for inspection, maintenance, structural, and operational activities.
- Identify hazards and evaluate associated risk levels before work execution.
- Review structural and operational parameters to verify safe working conditions.
- Evaluate method statements, work procedures, and technical safety documentation before authorization.
- Grant or recommend high-level execution authorization for critical activities after confirming safety requirements.
- Verify compliance with applicable HSE procedures, permits, controls, and operational requirements.
- Monitor high-risk activities and recommend corrective actions when unsafe conditions or deviations are identified.
- Maintain technical safety records, risk assessment documentation, approvals, and compliance reports.
- Risk Assessment: Ability to identify hazards, evaluate risk severity and likelihood, and establish suitable control measures.
- Safety Engineering: Strong understanding of engineering safety principles applicable to inspection and maintenance operations.
- Operational Safety Review: Ability to review technical and operational parameters before approving execution.
- HSE Compliance: Knowledge of workplace safety procedures, permits, control measures, and compliance requirements.
- Technical Authorization: Ability to make technically justified decisions regarding whether critical work can safely proceed.
- Experience with inspection and maintenance operations.
- Knowledge of Permit-to-Work, JSA/HIRA, and high-risk activity controls.
- Exposure to structural integrity or operational safety assessments.
Candidates must have 5 years of experience relevant to safety engineering. Experience involving technical risk assessment, inspection or maintenance operations, operational safety review, and authorization of high-risk activities would be particularly relevant.
EducationMinimum: Typical qualification — Bachelor's Degree in Safety Engineering, Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related technical discipline.
Preferred: Typical — postgraduate qualification or recognized professional HSE certification.
Additional: Relevant technical safety certification appropriate to the assignment; the requirement specifically states that the candidate must be a certified technical expert
