Job Overview:
Thermal System Design Engineer will be responsible for carrying out the gas turbine component thermal analysis, secondary air system and oil system design & analysis activities within the turbojet & turbofan development programs. This role requires expert knowledge in heat transfer, fluid mechanics, gas turbine propulsion, planning for projects and ability to develop individuals.
Key Responsibilities
:
- Carry out component thermal analysis simulations for thermal mapping of the engine
- Carry out steady and transient thermal & secondary flows assessment in gas turbine engine components
- Carry out sizing and design studies for the oil / lubrication system, seals, sump, bearings & pumps.
- Develop numerical and experimental methods for method verification and validation
- Support other team members, develop junior engineers and provide constructive feedback
- Review the designs, simulations and generate testing guidelines
- Identify project risks and plan for mitigation
Qualifications &
Experience:
- Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering degree or a related field.
- Strong background in gas turbine propulsion, heat transfer, thermodynamics and fluid mechanics.
- Experience:
5-15 years or more.
Skills:
- Technical skills in one or a combination of stated topics.
- Using commercial tools such as Ansys Workbench or similar.
- Experience in FEA, CFD or lower order simulation methods.
- Experience in 1D flow network software such as Flomaster and Amesim
- Experience in programming using C, Matlab/Simulink or similar.
- Awareness on the state‑of‑the‑art technologies in materials, aerodynamics and structural mechanics to link with thermal system design for gas turbine propulsion
- Good communication and presentation skills to interact with team members, clients, and vendors.
- Ability to solve problems, prioritize tasks and delegate when necessary
