Job TitleLead Instrumentation and Control Engineer - Offshore Project
Job PurposeThe Lead Instrumentation & Control Engineer is responsible for leading and managing all Instrumentation, Control, Safety Systems, and Automation engineering activities for ADNOC Offshore projects during FEED, Detailed Engineering, EPC, commissioning, and start-up phases. The role ensures technical excellence, compliance with ADNOC standards, project schedules, safety requirements, and successful delivery of offshore brownfield and greenfield projects.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the Instrumentation & Control discipline team for offshore projects.
- Manage engineering deliverables, resource planning, and technical quality of discipline activities.
- Provide discipline leadership during FEED, Detailed Engineering, EPC, and commissioning phases.
- Coordinate with project management and multidisciplinary engineering teams.

- Instrument Datasheets
- Hook-Up Drawings
- Loop Drawings
- Cable Schedules
- JB Schedules
- Installation Details
- Material Requisition s
- Technical Bid Evaluations
- Ensure proper selection and specification of field instrumentation including pressure, temperature, flow, level, analyzers, control valves, and shutdown valves.
- Lead design and implementation of:
- Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
- Emergency Shutdown Systems (ESD)
- Fire & Gas Systems (F&G)
- Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)
- SCADA Systems
- Integrated Control and Safety Systems (ICSS)
- Ensure system architecture complies with ADNOC and cybersecurity requirements.
- Participate and lead activities related to:
- HAZOP
- SIL Assessment
- LOPA
- Alarm Rationalization
- Functional Safety Reviews
- Ensure compliance with IEC 61508 and IEC 61511 standards.
- Lead offshore site surveys and brownfield modification activities.
- Evaluate tie-ins and integration with existing offshore facilities.
- Support shutdown planning and execution activities.
- Resolve site engineering and operational interface issues.
- Review vendor documentation for packaged equipment including:
- Gas Compressors
- Pumps
- Water Injection Packages
- Generators
- Metering Systems
- Chemical Injection Packages
- Participate in vendor meetings, FATs, SATs, and technical evaluations.
- Provide engineering support during construction and installation activities.
- Review commissioning procedures and support start-up activities.
- Participate in:
- FAT
- SAT
- Loop Checks
- Cause & Effect Testing
- System Integration Testing
- Ensure all engineering deliverables comply with:
- ADNOC Offshore Standards
- International Codes and Standards
- Project Specifications
- HSE Requirements
- Promote a strong safety culture within the engineering team.
- Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering, or equivalent.
- Master's Degree is an advantage.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng), PE, or equivalent.
- TÜV Functional Safety Engineer Certification (preferred).Membership in ISA, IEEE, or equivalent professional organizations.
- Minimum 15+ years of Instrumentation & Control engineering experience in Oil & Gas projects.
- Minimum 5 years as Lead Instrumentation Engineer on major offshore projects.
- Extensive ADNOC Offshore, Saudi Aramco, Qatar Energy, or other major Middle East offshore operator experience preferred.
