The Quality Control Specialist is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and compliance of electronic components and assemblies throughout the manufacturing process. The role involves conducting detailed inspections and testing against applicable technical specifications, IPC standards, and high-reliability requirements, helping ensure that products meet stringent quality standards within a defense manufacturing environment.

• Perform incoming, in-process and final inspection of electronic components, PCBs, PCBAs and electronic assemblies
• Execute inspection activities in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, BOMs, work instructions and inspection plans
• Inspect PCBA workmanship, solder joints, component mounting, cleanliness, marking and assembly defects against applicable acceptance criteria
• Verify soldering processes, materials, workmanship and solder-joint acceptability in accordance with specified requirements
• Inspect bare PCBs for conductor, plating, solder mask, annular ring, hole, surface-finish and other board-level defects
• Verify PCB compliance with applicable performance, construction, electrical, mechanical and environmental requirements
• Apply applicable military/space PCB requirements when defined in customer or procurement documentation
• Determine and verify the applicable acceptance class and ensure inspection criteria match the contractual/product requirements
• Verify part numbers, manufacturer markings, values, ratings, date/lot codes, orientation and component traceability
• Perform or coordinate visual, microscopic, AOI, X-ray, continuity, insulation-resistance and functional inspections as applicable
• Verify ESD protection, MSL controls, baking requirements, storage conditions and handling practices for sensitive components

• Bachelor’s/Diploma in Electronics, Electrical, Mechatronics or related engineering discipline
• Minimum 5 years’ QC experience in electronics, aerospace, defense or high-reliability manufacturing
• In-depth knowledge of IPC-A-610J – Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies
• Strong knowledge of IPC J-STD-001J – Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies and good understanding of IPC-A-600 & IPC-6012F and familiar with IPC-6012xS is a plus.
• Knowledge of IPC Class 2/Class 3, with strong understanding of Class 3/high-reliability requirements
• Strong understanding of electronic component identification, markings, polarity, orientation and BOM verification and experience with AOI, X-ray, microscope inspection and electrical test equipment
• Knowledge of ESD, moisture sensitivity (MSL), component handling and storage controls
• Understanding of counterfeit electronic component risks and traceability and Knowledge of NCR, defect classification, MRB and rework processes
