Solutions Architect

SteerAI is an autonomous mobility technology company powered by Venture One, the commercialization arm of the Advanced Technology Research Council. SteerAI’s advanced AI-powered autonomy stack, developed by the Technology Innovation Institute, empowers the logistics and defense industries by turning industrial vehicles into autonomous powerhouses that can handle complex off-road missions, transform operations and protect organizations' most important assets: their workforce.

Your mission when joining the Solutions & Deployment team at SteerAI will be to win autonomy programmes with defence and security customers by translating their operational requirements into technically credible, deployable solutions.

We're looking for a Sales Engineer who works at the intersection of a sales-driven mindset and real engineering judgement. You'll own the technical side of the deal from first conversation through trial and into deployment, working alongside our commercial leads and closely with product, engineering, field operations, safety and government affairs.

• Translate customer mission profiles and CONOPS — convoy resupply, ISR, border and perimeter patrol, route clearance, EOD, logistics in contested or GPS-denied environments — into concrete autonomy solutions and deployment concepts.
• Lead technical discovery with end users and integrators, and turn it into solution architectures, integration plans and phased deployment roadmaps.
• Own the technical content of RFI, RFP and tender responses, including compliance matrices, technical annexes and statements of work.
• Plan, run and support field demonstrations, user trials and validation rounds — defining success criteria, capturing data, and turning trial results into the evidence base for the next contract stage.
• Support integration of our autonomy stack onto partner and customer vehicle platforms, working with OEM and integrator engineering teams on interfaces, safety cases and acceptance testing.
• Lead technical discussions with senior military and government stakeholders alongside commercial representatives.
• Be the voice of the customer to our Product and Engineering organisations, feeding operational requirements back into the roadmap.
• Support pricing and licensing structures for software and sustainment, and other commercial, product or strategic projects as needed.

• A Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, Physics or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in customer-facing technical roles — sales engineering, solutions architecture, field engineering, systems engineering, defence consulting or a military technical background.
• Working understanding of ground autonomy building blocks: perception, localisation in GNSS-denied conditions, path planning, teleoperation, comms links and remote supervision.
• Experience with defence procurement — tenders, trials, capability demonstrations, acceptance testing, and the pace at which military programmes actually move.
• Comfort with data and tooling:
  Excel, Python or equivalent, plus the ability to build analysis that stands up to technical scrutiny.
• Strong communication skills — able to hold a room of colonels and a room of engineers on the same day.
• Willingness to travel across the region and spend time in the field, including in demanding environments.
• Familiarity with UGVs, unmanned systems, defence platform integration or military logistics is a strong plus. Arabic is an advantage.
