Our newest opportunity is for a talented
Quality Assurance Inspector - Landfill Construction
to join our team based in Abu Dhabi, UAE
. This position will be responsible for overseeing the construction quality assurance of landfill site projects. This role will include overseeing daily construction activities at the landfill site, ensuring technical specification compliance, with a particular focus on earthworks and geosynthetic installations.
We envisage success in this role to include:
- Monitor field earthworks, including excavation, filling, compaction, subgrade preparation, cover material placement and review laboratory test results.
- Inspect, verify, and document all incoming geosynthetic materials (geomembranes, Geosynthetic Clay Liners, geotextiles, etc.) for compliance with technical specification properties and manufacturer certifications.
- Monitor geomembrane deployment, panel placement, panel layout alignment, and destructive/non-destructive seam testing.
- Perform or witness air-pressure testing, vacuum box testing, and spark testing on liner seams and repairs.
- Collect seam samples for laboratory destructive testing (peel and shear strength) and review test results against project acceptance criteria.
- Maintain meticulous daily CQA logs detailing panel deployment layouts, seam tracking logs, non-destructive test results, repair locations, and earthwork testing points.
- Track non-conformances and verify that corrective repairs are re-tested and passed.
- Prepare comprehensive CQA Verification Reports (including panel deployment drawings, test data summary sheets, and compliance certificates).
- Interface daily with the Resident Engineer, Client Representatives, Contractor, and Geosynthetic Installation Subcontractor.
To be successful in this dynamic opportunity, we envision that your career journey to date will include 5+ years of experience in landfill construction quality assurance (CQA) supervision or related fields involving earthworks and geosynthetic liner installations, partnered with a Diploma or
Bachelor’s degree or similar qualification in Civil
Engineering or a related field. Certified Geosynthetic Inspector / CQA Inspector certification is highly desirable.
Furthermore, you should demonstrate:
- Strong knowledge of landfill design and construction practices.
- Willingness to travel and spend time on remote sites across the GCC region.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with attention to detail in managing CQA procedures.
- Ability to work closely with contractors and project teams to ensure project success and contract compliance.
- Excellent communication skills in English, with Arabic considered advantageous.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
