Update and generate black oil and compositional simulation models for short-term and long-term field development planning. Evaluate development schemes through simulation sensitivities, uncertainty and risk assessment, and economics. Translate reservoir studies into operational guidance.
Reservoir Simulation and Characterization- Coordinate with geoscientists on reservoir characterization and upscaling.
- Build full-field simulation models, perform history matching, and generate forecasts.
- Quality-check simulation models and history-match scenarios against geological model characteristics.
- Characterize reservoir fluids, calibrate Equation of State models, and convert black oil models to compositional models.
- Diagnose model convergence and runtime problems.
- Integrate pressure and production test results into simulation and reservoir management decisions.
- Apply multiphase flow concepts, effective permeability, and relative permeability correlations.
- Coordinate with the technical centre on improved and enhanced oil recovery methods, including water injection, immiscible and miscible gas injection, and surfactant and polymer injection.
- Assess pressure maintenance and recovery enhancement approaches.
- Estimate reserves using probabilistic and deterministic methods, including material balance, decline curve analysis, and simulation sensitivities.
- Use simulation results to identify actions supporting recovery and production objectives.
- Design, follow up, quality-check, and analyze reservoir studies including RCA, SCAL, and PVT.
- Conduct field development optimization studies involving well spacing, infill wells, advanced wells, and pilot projects.
- Contribute to cost-effective reservoir monitoring and data gathering programs to reduce uncertainty.
- Liaise with contractors conducting reservoir studies, review findings, and evaluate recommended actions.
- Participate in periodic database updates and validation using monthly production and injection data.
- Review well, reservoir, and field performance information and recalibrate simulation models as required.
- Plan, supervise, and coordinate assigned activities to meet functional objectives.
- Train and develop assigned staff in relevant technical skills.
- Provide budget inputs, support approved work plans, and investigate significant variances.
- Implement approved departmental policies, processes, standards, and procedures.
- Contribute to performance objectives and operational improvements, including methods aligned with relevant ISO standards.
- Provide inputs for departmental MIS and progress reports.
