ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Motion Simulator Engineer to support the maintenance, calibration, and continuous improvement of advanced navigation production and test facilities.

This role is ideal for an engineer with experience supporting high-precision test equipment, motion simulators, metrology systems, and automated production test environments. You will play a critical role in ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and maintaining the highest standards of calibration and performance for inertial navigation products.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain and support production test facilities and associated test equipment.
  • Develop and execute calibration, verification, and maintenance procedures.
  • Implement and manage Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities.
  • Monitor equipment reliability, downtime, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Generate maintenance documentation, calibration instructions, reports, and work procedures.
  • Support annual calibration activities and ensure compliance of production assets, tooling, and fixtures.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues affecting production test equipment.
  • Identify critical spare parts requirements and develop mitigation plans.
  • Support commissioning, qualification, and acceptance of new test equipment and calibration aids.
  • Work closely with Quality and Engineering teams to ensure calibration compliance and operational readiness.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Foundation Degree, HND, Advanced Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 4/5, or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years experience providing calibration and maintenance support within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Hands-on experience with motion simulators, precision test equipment, automated test systems, or other high-accuracy measurement systems.
  • Experience performing preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance activities.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to electromechanical test equipment.
  • Experience maintaining calibration records and supporting audit requirements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Mechatronics, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience supporting motion simulators, inertial navigation systems, or similar high-precision equipment.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, navigation, avionics, simulation, or advanced manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of inertial sensors, gyroscopes, accelerometers, and navigation test systems.
