K Abu Dhabi PMC Team is currently seeking experienced professionals for the position listed below in support of a major Offshore Project. The role will be based at either the Client's Office or the Contractor's Office in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Job Purpose
The Specialist Technical Safety Engineer will provide specialist Technical Safety and Process Safety engineering expertise throughout the offshore project lifecycle. The role will focus on identifying, assessing and mitigating risks associated with engineering design, construction, commissioning, start‑up and operations while ensuring compliance with ADNOC requirements, applicable international standards and project HSE objectives.
The position will act as a technical advisor for process safety, risk management, HSE engineering studies and regulatory compliance, including support for brownfield modifications and offshore installation activities.
Key Responsibilities Technical Safety & Process Safety- Provide specialist Technical Safety/HSE support during FEED, Detailed Engineering, Construction and Commissioning phases.
- Ensure hazards are systematically identified, assessed and effectively mitigated throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review and verify process-safety design requirements and safety‑critical elements.
- Support implementation of Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements.
- Review Loss Prevention philosophies and Process Safety engineering deliverables.
- Develop/check technical‑safety calculations, datasheets, technical notes, specifications, drawings and other discipline deliverables as required.
- Coordinate Technical Safety requirements and interfaces with Process, Mechanical, Piping, Instrumentation, Electrical, Civil/Structural and other engineering disciplines.
Lead, facililitate or participate in safety and risk workshops including:
- HAZID
- Hazard Identification - HAZOP
- Hazard and Operability Study - SIL
- Safety Integrity Level - LOPA
- Layer of Protection Analysis - Bow-Tie Analysis
- SIMOPS studies
- ENVID studies
- Risk Assessment workshops
- Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), where applicable.
- Ensure recommendations/findings from safety workshops are properly followed through.
- Support review and closure of safety‑study recommendations and risk‑reduction measures.
- Conduct/review risk assessments and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
The Specialist Technical Safety Engineer should support/review activities associated with:
- Hazardous Area Classification schedules and layouts.
- Loss Prevention and Process Safety requirements.
- Fire and Gas safety requirements.
For specialist‑level screening, the current K Specialist HSE Technical Safety role for an ADNOC Offshore PMC project specifies:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- Mandatory - Minimum 17+ years of overall experience in the Oil & Gas industry
- Minimum 5+ years of Offshore project experience
