Field Protection Engineer
International Challenging and Impactful As a Field Protection Engineer you will be based in Abu Dhabi and work on testing and commissioning of Siemens Protection amp Automation systems across the UAE and the wider Middle East region You will collaborate with global teams utilities and customers to ensure the safe and reliable operation of high-voltage transmission infrastructure
Key Responsibilities- Testing amp commissioning of Protection and Automation systems for Siemens projects
- Preparation of SAT FAT protocols and technical documentation
- Conducting Pre-FAT FAT activities with customers for protection panels AVR LIBBP HIBBP TIP etc
- Preparing commissioning procedures including method statements work permits and testing protocols
- Supporting product feedback approvals and continuous improvement initiatives
- Delivering technical presentations to customers and stakeholders
- Performing fault analysis and root cause investigations on protection systems
Bachelor s degree in electrical engineering Electronics or Electrical amp Communication Engineering3 5 years experience in Protection amp Automation commissioning
Experience in multicultural project environments
Experience in substation protection systems in the Middle East or international markets is a strong advantage
Hands-on experience with protection and automation systems including Siemens protection platforms such as SIPROTEC 4 SIPROTEC 5 Reyrolle Knowledge of Power Quality and Substation Automation systems
Strong understanding of IEC 61850 communication GOOSE applications and relay configuration tools
Experience with control logic creation BCPU BCU and configuration files SCD ICD CID Knowledge of industrial communication protocols used in protection systems
Testing amp Commissioning Expertise Advanced experience with OMICRON test equipment and Test Universe TU 4 20 or higher Testing modules including Distance Line Differential Transformer Differential State Sequencer Ramping Transplay and OCC files
Experience with HV transmission protection schemes including Line Distance Protection Line Differential Protection Transformer Main amp Backup Protection Busbar Protection Low High Impedance
Stability testing for line differential protection using CMGPS kits Testing of transformer shunt reactor and series reactor differential protection
Familiarity with modern digital substation technologies such as Process Bus and RTU integration
Self-motivated engineers with a strong problem-solving mindset
Ability to work effectively in international project teams
Strong communication and customer interaction skills
