Costuming Team Leader

Job Summary

The Costuming Team Leader is responsible for the overall care and maintenance of all costume pieces that are utilized in the Guest Experience shows and special events. They work closely with the show performers to ensure a smooth show operation based on varying schedules. Responsible for all costume repairs and when needed, costume manufacturing.

• Makes costumes and craft pieces, as well as altering existing costumes for show productions
• Must be able to work in backstage settling if needed
• Participates in off‑site or on‑site public relations events involving costumes and performers
• Shopping for costume notions and fabrics on a regular basis
• Daily laundry including washing, hanging, ironing and steaming all costume pieces
• Organizes weekly dry cleaning pick up and drop off and records items that have been taken and returned by the dry cleaner
• Maintains accurate and up to date costume inventory of all items in stock
• Trains other Guest Experience staff members in order to provide coverage during time off
• Dresses performers during shows
• Assists in a team leader capacity with other departments within Guest Experience when required
• Attends Guest Experience department meetings
• Assists with administrative tasks to support the Costuming Manager and Guest Experience department as a whole

• Higher secondary or equivalent
• Previous experience in sewing and design
• Managing people, sewing and tailoring skills – both hand and machine sewing
• Able to operate both industrial and home sewing machines
• Able to operate home serger machines
• Computer skills:
  Word, Excel and Power Point
• Proficiency in English
• Past experience working with performers

• Associate degree in theatre
• Costume design and construction experience
• 4 years sewing background
• 2 years in theme park industry
• 2 years with a long term show
• Shopping for theatrical show supplies experience
• Costume repair and manufacturing background
• Proficient in a second foreign language of Russian or Chinese
• Specialization in costume technology
• Theme park experience
