The Sonographer is responsible for performing high- quality diagnostic ultrasound examinations to assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions. The role requires clinical expertise, precision, and patient- centered care while ensuring adherence to safety, infection control, and professional standards.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical proficiency, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities:Clinical & Technical Duties
Perform a variety of ultrasound examinations including abdominal, obstetric, gynecological, vascular, small parts, and musculoskeletal scans (depending on scope of practice).
Ensure proper patient identification, preparation, and explanation of the procedure to minimize anxiety.
Acquire diagnostic- quality images and ensure accurate representation of anatomy and pathology.
Evaluate scan results for completeness and quality before submission to the radiologist for interpretation.
Adjust imaging parameters and use appropriate scanning techniques to optimize image quality.
Maintain and calibrate ultrasound equipment regularly to ensure optimal performance.
Patient Care & SafetyProvide compassionate and respectful care to all patients, maintaining their dignity and comfort.
Adhere to infection control and radiation safety policies at all times.
Monitor patients during procedures and respond appropriately to any signs of distress or complications.
Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
Documentation & ReportingAccurately record findings, images, and patient details in the Radiology Information System (RIS) / Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
Ensure timely submission of reports and assist radiologists with case discussions as needed.
Maintain updated logs of examinations, consumables, and machine usage.
Quality Assurance & ComplianceParticipate in departmental quality control and continuous improvement programs.
Follow all guidelines set by the Department of Health (DOH) / DHA / MOH and hospital accreditation standards (e.g., JCI).
Report equipment issues or safety concerns to the supervisor immediately.
Teamwork & Professional DevelopmentCollaborate with radiologists, physicians, and nursing teams to support integrated patient care.
Participate in continuing education, training, and skill enhancement programs.
Mentor junior staff or students when required.
Qualifications &Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Diagnostic Medical Sonography / Medical Imaging or equivalent.
Valid DOH / DHA / MOH Sonographer License (as per location requirements).
Minimum 2–4 years of experience in ultrasound imaging in a hospital or diagnostic center.
Proficiency in performing a wide range of ultrasound procedures.
Current BLS certification (mandatory).
Strong technical skills and knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English (Arabic is an advantage).
