Position: Clinical Social Worker (SKMC)

Responsibilities

  • Assist in daily management of workload allocation within the specialist area, taking into account changing and competing demands and making decisions about prioritisation of caseloads.
  • Supervise junior staff and ensure adherence to rules and policies within the section, department or facility.
  • Conduct, with the department head, performance appraisals of staff.
  • Take charge of care management for vulnerable clients, producing comprehensive social assessments, formulating social care plans, and identifying relevant resources.
  • Coordinate the delivery of social care plans and liaise with government or charity agencies.
  • Assess highly complex psycho‑social needs with families and caregivers, set objectives, develop care plans and deliver appropriate interventions.
  • Assist the multidisciplinary team to recognise and intervene for high‑risk patients, using approved criteria for assessment of patients with social issues.
  • Plan and intervene for discharge planning, liaising with support agencies such as the Social Support Centre, embassies and charitable foundations.
  • Conduct initial comprehensive person‑centred assessments, implement strategies of care that meet identified needs with the service user, caregiver and multidisciplinary team.
  • Support individuals, families and caregivers through loss, change, illness and uncertainty, acting as an advocate to ensure the patient’s expressed wishes are central to care planning.
  • Undertake comprehensive interdisciplinary assessments, early intervention, safe and effective decision‑making to overcome discharge barriers and facilitate the patient’s transition back to the community.
  • Communicate with patients and team members to assist patient progress along the continuum of care towards wellness, advocating for patients who may have difficulties understanding or communicating.
  • Respect the rights of individuals and families, embracing values, spiritual beliefs, customs and social norms in daily activities.
  • Promote awareness of social care/social work context and anti‑discriminatory practice among professionals, facilitating multidisciplinary teamwork.
  • Network and liaise with other professionals, external organisations to provide services to individuals, families and carers, challenging or questioning when necessary in the best interests of the user.
  • Communicate with service users, caregivers, families, agencies, providers and colleagues verbally and in written form, with patient consent.
  • Write required letters/reports (e.g., Social Study Reports, letters to charitable foundations, embassies, etc.).
  • Maintain high standards of clinical record‑keeping, electronic data entry, report writing and professional self‑governance in accordance with codes of practice.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient, staff and other information per codes of conduct and legislation, documenting each encounter or intervention in the patient medical record.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality control programs and procedures.
  • Assist in enforcing strict confidentiality of patient information.
  • Ensure those directly supervised comply with occupational health and safety policies.
  • Assist in planning and developing policies that guide the service.
  • Practice within the limits of established policies and procedures.
  • Deliver and participate in training and education sessions for staff and the multidisciplinary team relating to social work role and activities.
  • Participate in department programmes, committees, staff meetings, orientation and training of new employees.
  • Ensure appropriate internal and external sharing of information per governing policies and procedures.
  • Maintain professional knowledge by attending lectures, seminars or online education units.
  • Complete and maintain all regulatory requirements, including licensure, certification and other mandatory training within established time frames.
  • Ensure the department receives adequate clinical supervision for professional and technical development.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work;
    Master’s Degree in Social Work.
  • UAE Nationals.
  • Clinical Social Work Licence.
