Responsibilities
  • Maintaining sufficient inventory of material supplies and equipment for performance of duties.
  • Reporting shortages of materials to the senior radiographer or supervisor, maintaining records for ordering and replenishments.
  • Performing all CT imagery procedures in accordance with department policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Applying detailed knowledge of anatomy and physiology to produce images of high diagnostic quality.
  • Performing other related radiography procedures as required.
  • Evaluating and assessing CT images for acceptable quality, appropriateness, and completeness; advising other staff and forwarding images to the radiologist for review and reporting.
  • Conducting all preparations, cannulations, and administrations of IV contrast agents under the supervision of the supervisor or physician.
  • Recognizing anatomy and pathology in cross‑sectional imaging to optimize scan protocols and liaising with radiologists to arrange further imaging or tests.
  • Ensuring the safe and competent use of all radiology equipment, patient appliances, and aids; reporting incidents and equipment faults or deterioration to senior staff promptly.
  • Operating advanced software on specialist radiological equipment (e.g., bolus tracking, image reconstructions, quantifications, and dynamic imaging).
  • Maintaining a clean and tidy working environment, including restocking supplies and cleaning equipment.
  • Providing advice to medical and technical staff on appropriate techniques and imagery interventions.
  • Dealing with patients and clinical staff initial enquiries and relaying them to clinical staff when necessary.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Promoting and maintaining quality in all services and ensuring continuous quality improvement measures are in place; conducting method evaluation and development as per standard policies and procedures.
  • Complying with all safety and quality control programs and procedures.
  • Complying with applicable precautions for environmental safety, infection control, and using interventions that minimize or prevent cross‑infection.
  • Maintaining the strictest confidence regarding patient information, whether formally or informally recorded.
  • Practicing within the expressed limits of established policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring that SOPs and Quality Assurance tests are maintained within all sections.
  • Being responsible for documenting all interventions in an appropriate format.
  • Complying with and supporting clinical audit processes within the service and reporting on these as agreed.
  • Communicating in a professional and courteous manner with patients, families, and other medical personnel to obtain information for laboratory records, explain procedures, clarify orders, and communicate status.
  • Participating in education sessions for department staff, doctors, and nurses on the safe and secure handling of equipment (e.g., teaching, induction, peer review, case studies, and clinical presentations).
  • Participating in department and hospital committees, and staff meetings (if requested).
  • Participating in the orientation and training of new employees and radiography interns.
  • Ensuring appropriate internal and external sharing of information based on governing policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining professional knowledge by attending lectures, seminars, or online education units.
  • Completing and maintaining all regulatory requirements, including licensure, certification, and other mandatory training within established time frames.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of postgraduate experience with helical/spiral scanning in an acute care hospital.
  • Minimum 4 years of postgraduate experience with helical/spiral scanning in an acute care hospital.
