Performs clinical tests in anyone of or a combination of areas of specialization depending on the size and scope of the laboratory activity. Maybe assigned to or receiving supervision from Section-in-Charge, Laboratory Supervisor, Laboratory Manager and Head of Histopathology Department.
Responsibilities- Plan and direct research and development, when appropriate.
- Prepares tissue samples for routine microscopic analysis.
- Gross descriptions of small, uncomplicated specimens are recorded where appropriate, using specific terminology according to procedure.
- Tissue samples are prepared using correct procedures for preservation including, processing, freezing and embedding as appropriate per procedure.
- Tissue samples are sectioned using good microtomy techniques on microtomes to produce acceptable quality slides for staining according to procedures.
- Workload is prioritized and managed to meet expected Turn-Around-Times (TATs).
