Job Description:

The Department of Family Medicine, College of Medicine and Health Sciences, United Arab Emirates University, is seeking a Research Assistant to support its Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) education and research initiative. The successful candidate will provide research, educational, and administrative coordination for POCUS lectures, practical workshops, and student training activities.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Coordinating student groups, teaching schedules, laboratory sessions, and faculty assignments
• Communicating with and recruiting faculty members and clinical instructors to deliver lectures and supervise practical sessions
• Organizing student registration, group allocation, attendance, assessments, and course-related communications
• Preparing teaching rooms, ultrasound laboratories, equipment, consumables, and educational materials
• Maintaining accurate project records, schedules, databases, and document repositories
• Assisting with research participant recruitment, data collection, data entry, data cleaning, and quality assurance
• Supporting data analysis using Microsoft Excel, SPSS, or comparable statistical software
• Assisting with literature reviews, research documentation, ethics submissions, reports, presentations, abstracts, and manuscripts
• Monitoring project milestones and following up with faculty members, students, and other stakeholders
• Performing other duties related to the administration, evaluation, and development of the POCUS initiative

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in radiography, diagnostic medical sonography, medical imaging, allied health sciences, health sciences, biomedical sciences, public health, or another relevant discipline.

Skills:

• Excellent organizational and project-coordination skills
• Strong interpersonal and professional communication skills
• Ability to develop and maintain schedules, student groups, faculty rosters, attendance records, and project trackers
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and shared document-management systems
• Familiarity with SPSS or similar statistical software
• Accurate data entry, data cleaning, document control, and record management
• Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and follow up consistently with stakeholders
• Ability to support practical ultrasound teaching sessions and manage equipment responsibly
• Initiative, reliability, flexibility, attention to detail, and effective teamwork

Preferred Qualifications:

• Academic or professional background in diagnostic radiography, medical imaging, or diagnostic medical sonography
• Practical experience with ultrasound or Point-of-Care Ultrasound
• Master’s degree in a relevant health sciences discipline
• Previous experience supporting research projects, medical education programs, clinical skills laboratories, or simulation-based teaching
• Experience using SPSS, R, Stata, or comparable statistical software
• Experience with research ethics applications, participant recruitment, survey administration, literature reviews, and preparation of research reports or manuscripts
• Familiarity with reference-management software and electronic data-collection platforms
• Previous experience coordinating faculty, students, workshops, courses, or educational events
• Proficiency in Arabic
