Psychologist - Addictions

We are currently supporting a reputable healthcare provider in the UAE seeking an experienced Arabic-speaking Clinical Psychologist with a strong background in addiction treatment, substance use disorders and psychological rehabilitation.
The ideal candidate will have substantial, recent hands-on clinical experience working with individuals affected by addiction and co-occurring mental health conditions, preferably within a specialised addiction treatment centre, psychiatric hospital or rehabilitation facility.
Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments, clinical evaluations and treatment planning for patients presenting with substance use disorders and addiction-related difficulties.
• Deliver evidence-based psychological interventions, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), relapse prevention and other appropriate therapeutic approaches.
• Provide individual and group psychotherapy to patients undergoing addiction treatment and rehabilitation.
• Support patients with co-occurring psychiatric conditions such as depression, anxiety, trauma-related disorders and personality disorders.
• Develop personalised treatment plans addressing addiction, behavioural challenges, emotional regulation and long-term recovery.
• Conduct psychological risk assessments and monitor patients' clinical progress throughout their rehabilitation journey.
• Work closely with psychiatrists, addiction medicine physicians, nurses, social workers and other allied healthcare professionals.
• Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions, treatment reviews, discharge planning and relapse prevention strategies.
• Provide psychoeducation and therapeutic support to patients and their families.

Mandatory Requirements:

• Fluency in Arabic is essential.
• Bachelor's degree in Psychology followed by a recognised postgraduate qualification in Clinical Psychology.
• Valid professional licence or registration as a Clinical Psychologist in the home country.
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience following home-country professional licensure.
• Extensive and recent hands-on experience in addiction treatment and/or rehabilitation, preferably within a clinical, hospital or specialist rehabilitation setting.
• Demonstrable experience providing psychological assessments and psychotherapy to patients with substance use disorders.
• Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary mental health teams.
• Eligibility to obtain a relevant UAE healthcare professional licence.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience treating alcohol, opioid, stimulant or other substance use disorders.
• Exposure to residential or inpatient addiction rehabilitation programmes.
• Experience managing dual-diagnosis patients with addiction and co-occurring psychiatric disorders.
• Additional training or certifications in addiction counselling, CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing or trauma-focused therapies.
